Job Summary

Curative Executive Search has partnered with Alameda Health System (AHS) in Oakland, California on the search for a physician leader as Chief of Geriatrics. The Chief of Geriatrics is a medical leader who oversees the day-to-day medical services and functions of Geriatrics within the Department of Medicine at AHS. As Chief of Geriatrics you will be a member of the Alameda Health System Leadership Team reporting to the Chair of Medicine, and together with other key leaders, oversee the delivery of Geriatric care within Alameda Health System.

The Chief of Geriatrics will manage geriatric clinical services for Alameda Health System’s three acute care sites: Highland, Alameda & San Leandro Hospitals, and our outpatient ambulatory sites. This leader will have the opportunity to build the Division of Geriatrics from the ground up, including determining optimal staffing, scope of service, and standard of care, particularly as it relates to our Trauma service. Through these duties, you will work closely with other system Department Chairs, medical staff leadership, and other community healthcare organizations to ensure that geriatric patients have timely access to quality geriatric healthcare services. As a geriatrician, you will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to a critical service for aging patients and their families. Job Requirements

Education, Licensure, Certification:

Doctor of Medicine (MD or DO) and completion of an ACGME-accredited residency training program in Internal Medicine and a formal ACGME-accredited fellowship in Geriatric Medicine

Licensure – The ability to obtain licensure to practice medicine in the State of California Board Certification by an appropriate specialty board approved by ABMS or the AOA

Work Experience:

A minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in a healthcare organization. Experience with change management, physician leadership, and clinical program development. Preferred experience in quality and patient safety.
