Job Summary


The SVP & Chief Human Resources Officer is responsible for directing all of the people functions of the corporation in accordance with the policies and practices of Erlanger Health System, the ethical and social consciences of business and society and the laws, regulations and administrative rulings of governmental organizations and other regulatory and advisory authorities and organizations. The incumbent will also be responsible for the strategic human resource planning to provide Erlanger Health System with the best people talent available. The SVP & Chief Human Resources Officer provides leadership for innovative use of health system human resources.


Education


Required


Master's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Industrial/Labor Relations, Industrial/Organizational Psychology or an applied Social Science field or related degree required.

Department Position Summary


Provides leadership for innovative use of health system human resources. Identifies new, improved, and effective approaches to creating an environment conducive for high quality employee performance. These performance areas encompass all aspects necessary for successful integration of the human resource functions into health system operations.


Proactive in assessing the organization learning environment and introducing viable initiatives to stimulate openness to new ideas and approaches to work challenges.


Identify opportunities for enhanced organization performance through effective use of the health system human resources. Evaluate and advise on the impact of long range planning of new programs/strategies and regulatory action as those items impact the attraction, motivation, development and retention of the people resources of the corporation.


Thoroughly familiar with employment laws, regulations, executive orders, and practices. Responsible leadership must be initiated to determine legally defensible solutions to complex human resource challenges.


Experienced and competent in managing a comprehensive employee benefits program. Ability to negotiate effective contractual arrangements with insurance companies, consultants and advisors.


Provides effective leadership for Human Resource initiatives; assesses organizational needs and provides proper programs for effective workforce utilization. Implements programs designed to create an environment for high quality employee performance; integrates the Human Resource function into health system operations; identifies opportunities for enhanced organization performance. Prepares and monitors budget to ensure that all are in compliance with hospital budgetary guidelines. Provides effective implementation of all functions reporting to Vice President of Human Resources. Prepares responses to complaints and legal challenges regarding human resource/employment practices coordinating with attorneys. In conjunction with legal services, properly assesses hospital liability in complaint and legal challenges; makes appropriate recommendations regarding mediation/settlement. Maintains confidentiality of information; handles information according to EHS and legal guidelines. Keeps abreast of changes in laws and regulations affecting human resource management. Promotes teamwork in all organization relationships. Exhibits professional characteristics in all business matters; demonstrates commitment and loyalty to EHS mission.
