We are searching for a Chief Human Resources Officer to help lead our clinics and team through our next phase of growth as we focus on mentorship and coaching, supporting our teams, and more. This dynamic, leadership-driven position will be a highly team-oriented role! You will be a key contributor to the success of the strategic and operational components of the organization and serve as a key contributor to the vision of the senior leadership team. When it comes to taking care of the people in our team, this is where the CHRO really shines.


The CHRO is the person helping to drive a stronger strategy through the organization with the

other leaders – helping them evaluate how people are feeling. A strong culture is one where

each employee understands how what they do impacts the organization.


JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES:

The CHRO will provide overall strategic direction and guidance to the Human Resources, Talent

Acquisition, Talent Development, Payroll, Benefits and Systems Administration for Veterinary

United in accordance with company policies and Federal/State/Local laws and regulations.


• Advises, consults and serves as a member of the senior management team in the

development and execution of short-term and long-range plans and programs based on

corporate goals, strategic planning and growth objectives.


• The CHRO will provide leadership, management and accountability for the HR

department. Holds daily meetings and weekly 1:1’s with Department Heads to ensure

good communications and to keep abreast of departmental updates and changes.


• Build and nurtures relationships with Veterinary United’s C-Squad by demonstrating

an understanding of business strategy, vision and challenges utilizing progressive and

intellectual thinking skills. Works with a variety of teams in support of Veterinary United

initiatives and operations.


• Oversees the operations of the Human Resource Department. Supports department

initiatives to include the culture, employee engagement, and development of employees.

Functions as a primary change agent for the organization.


• Continuous improvement and monitoring of department metrics. Developing, coaching

and holding the HR team accountable for KRA’s and KPI’s.


• Serves as a trusted advisor and business partner to the family of Veterinary United’s senior

leaders, functioning as the expert on people and organizational issues and providing

guidance on managing complex and sometimes sensitive employee relations matters.


• Translates the strategic and tactical business plans into HR strategic and operational plans.


• Evaluates and advises on the impact of long-range planning of new programs/strategies

and regulatory action as those items that may affect the attraction, development and

retention of the employees of the organization.


• Evaluates and develops programs to improve Human Resource Operations. Continually

assesses the competitiveness of all programs and practices against the relevant

comparable companies, industries and markets.


• Oversees the maintenance and development of employee benefits programs. Evaluates

and analyzes the results of the programs and services on a periodic basis.


• Evaluates recruitment, retention and employee satisfaction and drives programs

for improvement.


• Recommends and assists in the development of policies, procedures and systems to

meet company objectives.


• Oversees the company’s payroll department and ADP system.


• Oversees the 401(k) Plan as Administrator.


• Oversees all Company benefit plans as Administrator.


• Oversees and creates ongoing strategy as the leader of the talent acquisition arm of the

Company.


• Other duties as required, which could include tasks outside the general job description


QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:


1. Master’s degree preferably with (5+) years progressive work experience in a lead HR position

with (3+) years of strategic management experience.

2. Requires knowledge of Human Resources and Learning and Development principles and

practices.

3. Requires knowledge of payroll and benefits including administration of the 401(k).

4. Requires advanced knowledge of recruiting for a multi-site and multi-state business.

5. Ability to lead, manage and hold a remote work force accountable.

6. Ability to perform complex analytics, identify trend analyses and interpret data, driving

business recommendations.

7. Strong business acumen with a demonstrated record of progressive thinking.

8. Demonstrated ability to build professional relationships and to work as part of a team.

9. Strong customer service skills with the ability to utilize problem solving and conflict

resolution skills.

10. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

11. Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

12. Must be able to lift, carry, and push up to 25lbs.
