KLR Executive Search Group is proud to partner with Newport Mental Health https://www.newportmentalhealth.org/ to recruit their new Chief Finance and Administrative Officer. Newport Mental Health is an impressive designated Certified Community Behavioral Health Center (CCBHC) in Rhode Island. They lead the field in serving children, adolescents, adults, and their families throughout Newport County. This nonprofit organization provides a vast array of services for behavioral health conditions including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder, alcohol, and drug use to all residents of Newport County, regardless of income, insurance, or ability to pay.


Newport Mental Health is the first and longest-running federally designated Certified Community Behavioral Health Center (CCBHC) in Rhode Island, a distinction it has held for 4 years. The Opportunity:

The Chief Finance and Administrative officer (CFAO) reports directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer and is a member of the NMH’s Leadership structure known as the Executive Management Team. They will be responsible for all business, fiscal, information technology, and physical plant functions. They will also administer all Center environmental service to include building, facilities, and Center vehicles. NMH also is the managing partner of Horizon Pharmacy.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that appropriate facility maintenance and improvements takes place within available resources.
  • Translate mission, vision, values, and strategic planning into action plans. Build a shared vision with CMHC staff and act as a positive catalyst of organizational change and growth.
  • Seek creative and innovative methods to utilize and deploy existing resources towards maximizing performance and positive outcomes.
  • Coordinate with clinical program directors on matters pertaining to budget, program performance, productivity, contract administration, and personnel management.
  • Identify goals and objectives based on aggregate data sources and sets priorities.
  • Formulate effective strategic planning consistent with and responsive to regularly conduct needs assessments. Systematically collect data with long-term outcome-oriented perspective.


Job Qualifications:

  • At least seven (7) years of administration and financial management experience in a non-profit organization, governmental entity, or similar organization.
  • Knowledge of cost reporting within State and Federal regulations (A-122 and Medicare/ Medicaid cost reporting).
  • Ability to participate and contribute to strategic planning processes.
  • Ability to learn, understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to administrative services program areas. For example, Medicaid/Medicare and other third-party insurance payers.
  • Master’s degree in business administration, Public Health Administration, or CPA.
  • Ability to assess budgetary needs and determine cost of service (i.e. cost accounting/ modeling).
  • Knowledge of non-profit accounting, including cost centers, fund accounting, and budgeting.
