NAMI Broward County - Chief Executive Officer - CEO

- Ability to communicate with diverse NAMI audience: families and individuals impacted by mental illness, community executives, law enforcement, NAMI volunteers and facilitators
- Accurately represents the philosophy, services and educational programs of NAMI Broward to individuals, groups and the general public
- Public speaking skills on mental health issues, and related topic
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other software solutions for communications and office management
- Reports to the Board of Directors about progress toward organizational objectives, financial status, and other issues of concern
- Recruit, hire, train, coach, supervise, and consistently provide effective, inspirational leadership to a team of employees, independent contractors, and volunteers
- Represent NAMI Broward County in the media, on matters of public policy with executive branch agencies and in the legislature, and through speaking engagements and special initiatives to empower members and to educate the public on mental illness/wellness issues
- Supervises Director of Programs to ensure classes, program activities, and support
- Works with the marketing firm to develop marketing and media strategy to promote NAMI Broward County's mission and engages a wide, diverse audience
- Groups are conducted to the standard of NAMI Signature's Program protocol
- Works with staff, the Board, affiliates, volunteers, and general membership to establish the strategic direction of the organization and carry out the mission, vision, and values
- Ensures effective systems for program evaluation, including tracking and reporting organizational information and key performance indicators, and making changes as needed
- Promote good public relations in all communities across the state
- Attend workshops, conferences, and meetings conducted by local, state, regional, and national organizations, and agencies to obtain up-to-date information on mental health treatment, rehabilitation, and community support programs and resources
- Act as liaison with NAMI Florida and NAMI National to ensure the organization maintains its affiliation with NAMI by honoring Corporate Affiliate Agreement
- Attend community committees and task force meetings so that NAMI has a "seat at the table" and is "the leading voice for mental health in Broward County"
- Actively promote the Public Policy Agenda of the Florida Mental Health Advocacy Coalition and be well versed in its implications
- Build and/or support coalitions, and foster relationships among state and local organizations, community organizations, relevant partners, such as advocacy organizations
- Create and implement a donor engagement strategy, including prospecting, research, proposal/LOI writing, grant writing and relationship building activities for corporate, foundation, and individual giving programs
- Work with the bookkeeping firm, staff and Executive Committee to develop an annual mission-driven budget which is approved by the Board of Directors and manage NAMI Broward County's resources within budgetary guidelines
- Assure all financial and managing entity audits are managed and successfully closed in each reporting period
- Ethical and a person of high integrity
- Excellent communications skills, including verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Candidates with personal experience living with one's own mental health condition or that of a loved one are strongly encouraged to apply
- Previous management experience in the role of Director, Executive Director or Chief Executive Office
- Strong interest and passion for NAMI Broward County's mission, those it serves, and its staff and volunteers
- Skilled in fundraising, including donor relations and engagement and donations management
- Knowledge of organizational operations
- Experience in the development and management of grants, contracts, and fundraising
- Experience in program development, delivery, and management of programs for those persons with serious mental illness and experience with suicide prevention programs and practices. Experience in working effectively with a Board of Directors and grassroots volunteers
- Highly skilled in leadership/administration including budgeting, financial management, programs management, advocacy, community engagement, strategic planning, and staff/volunteer supervision
- Master's degree in human services or related field, or a Bachelor's degree with equivalent experience
- Ability to establish, cultivate, and maintain effective and robust working relationships with grassroots volunteers and people with lived experience with mental illness and suicide, and their loved ones
- Understanding of co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders
- Understanding of the criminal justice and homelessness systems
- 10 paid holidays annually.
- Personal Time Off (PTO) is prorated after 90 days per NAMI policy.
