Job Summary
This position serves on the Executive Leadership Team for the corporation and has the authority to make decisions across the corporation, including cross-departmental issues and interpreting policy as set by the board. The position is directly responsible for leading and executing the company’s community strategy both internally and externally. The CCO will work closely with the executive team to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all channels, including traditional media, digital, and social media. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of leading successful communication campaigns, a deep understanding of current communication trends and technologies, and experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
This position serves on the executive leadership team for the corporation and has a high degree of latitude and directly reports to the President.
Essential Duties And Functions
  • Perform bi-annual evaluations for direct reports by communicated deadline
  • Special projects and initiatives of the corporation
  • Lead media and public relations efforts, including press releases and media outreach
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment with company goals and objectives
  • Manage crisis communications and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Assist in Caucus meeting activities as needed and attend or participate in one caucus meeting per state annually
  • Performs other functions necessary or as assigned by President/CEO
  • Oversee all internal and external communications, ensuring consistent messaging and branding
  • Oversee goals and accomplishments for Advocacy and Membership, ensuring resources are provided to appropriate staff to ensure goals & tasks assigned are met
  • Prepares monthly & quarterly management reports by the deadline, 10th month of the following
  • Develop and implement effective communication strategies and plans
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technology, and recommend new communication approaches as necessary
Requirements For This Position Include
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with digital and social media platforms
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
Preferred Education And Experience
  • 10+ years in communications with proven track record of successes
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field
