We are seeking a CATEGORY MARKETING MANAGER join the Orvis Team! This is a remote position.
The Category Marketing Manager – Apparel is a critical member of the Orvis global brand strategy team. This individual leads the long-term vision and marketing strategy for the Apparel categories to drive growth goals, seasonal strategic marketing planning, and creates the most inspiring, engaging customer experience across our brand ecosystem. This role will leverage the focused know-how and goals of various teams to identify insights-based opportunities, develop marketing strategies to fully leverage those opportunities, and manage activation of authentic, connection-based stories and voices across channels in the United States.

Position Interfaces:
This position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Brand Marketing; and works across the marketing organization as well as through deeply integrated partnership with Merchandising, Product Design & Development, Planning, Creative, E-Commerce, Public Relations, Retail & Wholesale, and the Conservation & Sustainability teams.
Responsibilities:
- Lead assessment of campaign effectiveness and iterative innovation through seasonal hindsight.
- Focus Marketing and Creative team efforts on campaign priorities through briefs that outline strategic campaign objectives, driving insights, and the key message to communicate to the customer.
- Contribute to the evolution of the Orvis brand strategy and our goals to differentiate our brand against competitors and create emotionally powerful, long-term relationships with our customers.
- Partner with key internal and external stakeholders to execute and deliver on marketing strategy and activation to support the achievement of the organization’s growth goals.
- File growth through target growth consumers & in alignment with sales goals.
- Achieve sales growth targets set by accelerate apparel strategy in alignment with 3-5 year growth goals.
- Develop long-term vision and marketing strategy to drive and exceed category growth goals for Apparel. Includes customer and competitive analysis, along with positioning and go-to-market strategy for hero product launch campaigns.
- Effective planning and execution of briefs with on-time turnover to partners.
- Manage the development of seasonal category-level marketing plans to deliver business goals by identifying, briefing in, and ensuring the successful implementation of top business driving product stories with compelling, differentiated positioning.
Competencies and Requirements:
- Ability to coordinate efforts of a cross-functional team toward a vision through effective collaboration & communication.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and project management skills.
- Prior experience in working with media editors, freelancers, bloggers and ambassadors a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing or a business-related field.
- Strategic mindset to drive growth through strong positioning and marketing point of view.
- Strong computer skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Smartsheet.
- Aptitude toward identifying strong stories and building focus around messaging hierarchies.
- Alignment with the Orvis Core Values and a passion for the outdoor industry.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including meeting facilitation and presentations.
- Motivated self-starter and creative thinker who is equally comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Professional experience with outdoor brands or lifestyle apparel.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in product marketing.
