Empire Marketing Strategies is the leading expert in the food brokerage industry and supports the Grocery, Meat/Seafood, Deli/Bakery and Produce suppliers for Kroger and the Kroger family of companies.
Category Development Manager Job Summary
Working with limited guidance, the Category Development Manager will guide the execution of sales and category management initiatives, making recommendations based upon a deep analysis and understanding of business results, competitive data, and consumer insights, relevant to regional/national branded accounts.
This position is a hybrid role and will require working in the downtown Cincinnati office 2 - 3 days per week.
Category Development Manager Key Responsibilities
- Generate and analyze weekly, monthly and annual reporting to track brand and category performance
- Efficiently respond to internal and external ad hoc requests as received
- Align with industry peers on category review process to provide unbiased category recommendations to our retail partner
- Coordinate with sales leads on customer presentation development by identifying and prioritizing category and brand opportunities at the account, and presenting data-based insights both to clients and to our retail partner
- Own post-promotional analytic process, identifying successes and opportunities
- Utilizing multiple data resources, lead the development of new item presentations and/or category reviews, interpreting data to provide actionable insights to drive category growth
- Leverage data to provide event and quarterly forecasting and to monetize trade budget impacts
Category Development Manager Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience working with Kroger preferred
- Previous experience working within the produce category is highly preferred
- Mark 6 experience required
- Experience in creating and presenting PowerPoint presentations in front of an audience
- IRI and 84.51° Stratum experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; Access, Power BI a plus
- 2+ years of experience in a customer-facing Category Management or Analyst role required
- Bachelor degree in related field required
- Demonstrated skills in analyzing data from various sources to provide insights and recommendations
