The Opportunity
The Career Advisor I provides career exploration, resume, cover letter, interviewing preparation, job search assistance, career assessment interpretation and outreach to a diverse population of students and alumni. You will develop relationship with the student advising teams and evaluate and maintain up to date, vertical specific employment resources. As a Career Advisor, you will work with career advising team lead and colleagues to contribute to the success of career services and student success programs. This is a remote friendly position (#LI-Remote) and you will report directly to our Career Advising Team Lead.
In this Role You'll Get To:

  • You will partner with employer relations and other teams to direct activities, job search and multiple career services to help students obtain sustainable, market-based employment.
  • You will perform strategic outreach per an established communication plan to assigned student/alumni population to support career development and exploration, job market preparation, job/internship search and employment in-field of study.
  • Represent Career Services at different events.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to improve
  • Help with commencement ceremonies and reception events
  • Use systems and reporting daily to positively improve student career outcomes, success, and satisfaction
  • Deliver upon the Customer Experience (CX) framework in every interaction
  • Create student development and career plans.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
  • Input employment data and case management notes into student files.
  • Manage inbound outreach from students and alumni looking for career support.
  • Follow policies within University Catalog and Employee Handbook
  • Review internal communication channels to stay informed and ensure delivery of accurate information
What we're Looking For:
  • Experience with computer applications – must demonstrate proficiency in Word, Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets) and databases.
  • 1+ years of experience in career advising, counseling, human resources, or recruiting.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening hours
  • Bachelor’s degree required
Nice to have:
  • Knowledge of career coaching/counseling theories, models and techniques as they apply to lifelong development, gender, age and ethnic background
  • Experience with professional social media platforms
  • Experience working with special employment needs for a variety of populations.
  • Familiarity with career development assessments, with emphasis on relating appropriate career development assessments to the population served (MBTI and Focus II Assessment)
