Job Description
LAKE SUPERIOR CONSULTING is currently growing at a fast pace and as part of that growth, we are seeking to fill a position as an Integrity Management CAD Technician I at our office in Duluth, MN, Minneapolis, MN, Pittsburgh, PA or a remote location.
The IM CAD Technician will assist the IM Engineering team with creating and modifying CAD drawings relating to Cathodic Protection System Design, AC Mitigation, and other IM related work scopes. This will include creating, modifying, receiving a basic red lined drawing and making the associated changes to the drawings. These drawings are then used to create bidding, construction, and As-Built documents for the client.
The IM CAD Technician requires basic knowledge of job procedures and tools obtained through work experience and requires a technical education. This individual will work under moderate supervision.
Responsibilities:
Primary
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate design and drawing archives and revision history.
  • Perform a wide range of drafting tasks.
  • Obtain a general understanding of any overall project goals, constraints, and schedule requirements
  • Compute calculations under the direction of a designer or engineer
  • Knowledge of cathodic protection systems, AC mitigation systems, building codes, federal transportation regulations, development of details and the organization of construction documents.
  • Work safely by adhering to LSC and client guidelines and procedures
  • Proactively provide status updates, discuss challenges, and address plan revisions
  • Prepare plans, layouts, assembly drawings, detail drawings and sketches as directed by engineers.
  • Effectively communicate while working in a team environment across multiple office locations.
  • Revise existing drawings as required and correct “As Built” drawings.
  • Deliver complete and accurate drawings within schedule parameters
  • Conceptualize, design, and communicate successfully in CAD using current industry standards.
Secondary
  • Document and report any incidents, near misses, and opportunities for improvement
  • Collaborate with engineers on final deliverables for clients on the collected data
  • Perform trouble shooting on cathodic protection systems
  • Work in compliance with all technical procedures and guidelines
  • Gather data, prepare records and reports in a timely manner
  • Install, maintain and repair components of a cathodic protection system
  • Prepare and participate in field mobilizations for planned cathodic protection projects
  • Complete and maintain operator qualifications (OQs)
  • Ensure your work is utilized with respect to company goals
  • Operate and use testing equipment
  • Work in compliance with all technical procedures and guidelines
Position Requirements:
  • Must have strong critical thinking, problem solving, and troubleshooting abilities
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience preferred
  • Willing to learn new skills and work as a team to meet deadlines.
  • Have an intermediate understanding of AutoCAD
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Desire to collaborate with project managers, engineers, and management; locally and through other office locations
  • Must have good mathematical background to handle common calculations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn applicable State and Federal regulatory requirements (CFR 49 Part 192 & 195)
  • Experience with land survey, navigation, interpretation of engineering designs, mechanical repair, IT, and/or construction highly preferred
  • Capability to operate a company vehicle, ATV, and use general hand/power tools
  • Be able to pass an Autodesk products skills test
  • Oil/gas industry experience is preferred.
  • AAS degree in drafting and design, engineering, or related field
  • Moderate skillset in Autodesk 3D products (Civil 3D, Plant 3D, Revit, Solidworks etc.)
  • Willingness to learn NACE standards and test methods
  • Highly motivated and thrives in a dynamic, team-based environment
  • Ability to travel periodically for physically demanding work in an outdoor environment
  • Good organizational skills and detail oriented
  • Commitment to working safely and producing high quality, ethical service
  • Desire to learn and understand basic cathodic protection
Physical Requirements and Demands:
  • Must be able to travel to offsite locations for periods of time
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding outdoor environment, as required
  • Exposure to weather including hot and cold climates.
  • Ability to traverse rugged terrain, excavations and work around pipe and equipment, as required
  • Ability to work long hours when projects demand.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent periods of standing for extended periods.
  • The job requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation. Routinely use standard office equipment such as but not limited to: computers, phones, copiers, and filing cabinets. Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear.
