Job Description

The Business Systems Analyst’s (BSA) primary responsibility is to translate business and system needs into requirements for development teams. They will be responsible for identifying/gathering, analyzing, documenting, validating, and prioritizing the requirements, acting as a liaison between stakeholders and development teams. They understand the vision of the product to be developed, documents ideas into concrete requirements, and acts as a point of contact for any clarification regarding deliverables.

Essential Functions

  • Understand and help project managers and/or product/program owners create business cases by making sure all high-level requirements are listed in the project scope.
  • Liaise between assigned business units and IT teams to align the demands and critical priorities between these two groups.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses to justify the feasibility of proposed solutions.
  • Gather, validate, analyze, document, and prioritize requirements from key stakeholders and SME’s.
  • Gather by using requirement elicitation techniques like workshops and focus groups.
  • Validate by cross-referencing requirements with other stakeholders, to achieve consensus before the solution is built.
  • Document by creating user stories and breaking them down into functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Prioritize by working with product/program owners.
  • Maintain and update documentation at regular intervals.
  • Recommend workarounds, value additions, and remove solution bottlenecks for stakeholders.
  • Aid in development and testing of the product.
  • Act as intermediary between customer and development team.
  • Prepare end-user documentation.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, or management systems
  • 3-5 years of related work experience
