About Tesla and Tesla Energy’s Mission
In 2016 Elon released: The Master Plan, Part Deux. In this plan he highlighted the need to Integrate Energy Generation and Storage by creating stunning solar roofs with seamlessly integrated battery storage. Tesla Energy’s Installation team is in the operations arm of the business. The team installs high-quality energy products (Solar Roof, Retrofit Solar, Powerwall) across the United States. To achieve this, we use a combination of direct labor and sub-contractors and partner with certified installers and new home builders.
About Tesla Energy Quality
The Quality Department's core purposes are to ensure that the services we provide and the products we install meet the design intent so that people will love them and to reduce organizational spend by identifying and reducing inefficiencies caused by operations errors and product defects. We react to issues by containing, identifying root cause, and determining corrective actions to prevent recurrence while proactively identifying and mitigating risks to improve capability and capacity of operations through new methods, tools, or material.
Tesla Energy’s Installation Quality department supports the installation of residential energy products through the continual improvement of process and product quality and the systems that surround them. A successful candidate for this team must be a problem-solver at their core, have a strong quality and customer-focused mindset, and have the personal drive and stamina for relentless, continual improvement, both personally and professionally.
About Order to Install Quality Project Management
The Business Quality Engineering team works with closely with our pre-install operations teams: Project Advisors, Site Designers, Contract & Documents, Permitting & Inspections and Site Survey. Their purpose is to: Determine potential risks and drive resolution of high-risk issues into process controls; Establish and maintain Control Plans to assure critical features are controlled and monitored. Establish criteria for audits and controls based on product specification and process critical requirements.

What You’ll Do
  • Manage the audit program of the business operations team, providing weekly updates on performance to the operations leadership organization
  • Prioritize audit types and pivot as required based on critical business need.
  • Partner closely with senior business operation leaders to ensure voice of the customer is understood and utilized when developing process/policies.
  • Manage audit feedback loop and dispute resolution, ensuring audits are done following correct and current process.
  • Ensure business quality specialist team are performing high quality audits and are meeting weekly productivity targets.
  • Manage a team of 5-10 business quality specialists (hourly) who are responsible for auditing the business operations team and improving customer experience.
What You’ll Bring
Essential Skills - Job Specific
  • Ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with external and internal teams at all levels across the company
  • Familiarity with quality problem-solving methods such as fishbone diagrams, 5-Why, 8D etc. (preferred)
  • Ability to clearly distill actionable insights and support hypothesis with data
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are an absolute requirement to establish effective working relationships throughout the Tesla organization
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • Should be familiar with obtaining and manipulating data through SQL (basic understanding is fine, ability to learn is mandatory)
  • Must be very comfortable with standard MS Office programs, specifically Excel
  • Ability to project manage across cross-functional teams

Education/Experience

  • 2+ years experience managing or mentoring staff
  • 3+ years relevant experience in a related area for example, Customer Success, Consultancy, Account Management or Mobile Marketing
