Job Description

Position: Business Application Analyst
Location: Remote

The Business Application Analyst will report to the Workday and IS Applications Supervisor. This role is responsible for assisting in the design, development and maintenance of business application environments. Supports multiple third party applications including but not limited to the time and attendance and staff scheduling of all colleagues through the Health System. Reviews and maintains an in-depth knowledge of assigned system applications, related departmental policies, procedures and business operations, staffing and scheduling principles, and system configurations. This individual will be involved with configuring and rolling out new features, troubleshooting system issues and providing day to day support. May participate in on-call coverage as assigned.

  • Investigate and troubleshoot issues as identified by HR and Payroll teams or by staff managers.
  • Serve as business application analyst to support internal business initiatives.
  • Execute ongoing performance tuning, system upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
  • Develop user procedures, guidelines and documentation. Train trainers/education team on new processes/functionality.
  • Recommend process/customer service improvements, innovative solutions, policy changes. Use project management skills in delivering system benefits to the hospital.
  • Provide support as assigned via the IT help desk ticketing system. Resolve incidents in a timely fashion and prioritize requests.
  • Update newly created positions, profiles, and labor distributions in systems. Maintain staffing and scheduling settings to support labor productivity goals.
  • Support Payroll team with configuration of new pay codes and calculations within API
  • Support and Troubleshoot worker and staffing integrations between API and Workday
  • In conjunction with vendor’s hosting and managed services, perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of server resources, systems and key processes. As necessary, monitor system and application logs, and verify completion of scheduled jobs.
  • Perform special duties, tasks, or projects as required.
  • Provide system support for specific standard organizational processes such as PTO Payouts and Departmental Staffing changes.
  • Work with vendor to manage regular upgrades. Configure and/or add new services as necessary. Document relevant new features and distribute education to staff.
  • Collaborate with Field Support team to support badge readers with the API Time and Attendance system
Education & Experience
  • Kronos or API work experience is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience and/or certification in Workday application also preferred.
  • Healthcare clinical or business operations background in areas such as payroll, scheduling, access services, HR or other support functions a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Health Care Administration, Clinical/Business Information Systems, Informatics, Information Technology, or sciences and equivalent experience is also strongly desirable.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts in terms understandable to end-users, strong written and verbal communication skills to include the creation of project documentation and technical writing, ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment on workflow design, problem solving and other projects that support business needs.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills are necessary.
  • Flexible team player with strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Power Point required.
  • Knowledge and experience with health care information systems or knowledge of processes and workflows in business and clinical settings.
