Job Description

Golfshot is the global market leader in mobile golf technology, and we’re looking for a driven Business Analyst Intern to join our team. The Golfshot Business Analyst Intern will be tasked with managing and creating reporting for internal data analytics projects. This role will help to optimize both the business and the product by analyzing large data sets and translating them into actionable insights. Projects vary from short explorations of data to longer-term statistical analyses at the individual and aggregate level. The Analyst continuously explores new data to improve the product and business decisions, applying analytical and data science methods to solve business problems, identify new opportunities, and provide recommendations to senior management. They communicate technical and analytical concepts across the organization and help to influence the product roadmap and decision-making through data-based recommendations. Additionally, the Analyst analyzes internal sports performance data, particularly in golf, that can be used for product development, content, and community education.


Responsibilities:


  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.
  • Design, validate, and evaluate solutions using R, Python, SQL, and other programming tools, creating and validating data for external publication
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop custom data solutions, reports, and dashboards that meet business needs
  • Collaborate with technical teams to build, maintain, and optimize databases, data warehouses, and data pipelines, leveraging Data Warehouse/Lake to generate relevant data
  • Build statistical models to enhance understanding of trends and predict future performance
  • Conduct ongoing business analysis on company operations, identify areas for improvement, and make recommendations to senior management
  • Create visualizations and reports to effectively communicate insights and findings to key stakeholders
  • Perform time-series, hypothesis, and causal analyses to statistically assess relative impact and extract trends
  • Design experiments and interpret the results to draw detailed and actionable conclusions, finding new opportunities and novel applications for core internal data
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret internal sports performance data (golf) to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for product development, content, and community education
  • Partner with applications development and research team in end-to-end data science project lifecycle, including data mining and exploration, model development and evaluation, solution deployment in production, and measurement and tracking
  • Research and resolve data inquiries and requests, serving as a subject matter expert for Golfshot User Data and document requirements for data science and reporting projects


Qualifications:


  • Some proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Experience with managing large data sets, auditing for data validity, and experience storage and collection optimization strategies for optimal analytics outputs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong SQL skills, proficiency with R, Python, Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Experience/Interest with sports analytics, particularly golf
  • Working on a degree in a quantitative field (Degree in progress, e.g., data science, statistics, mathematics, engineering)

  • Job Type: Part-time (20-30 hours per week)
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment for this position. The employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas in connection with this position.
  • Hourly Rate: $20-$25/hr
  • Position is located in the Phoenix AZ metro area. Although the position is work from home, the employee will need to be available for in-person meetings and activities.
