The Team
The goal of the Marketing & Communications team is toraiseAlight’s brand awarenessand differentiate Alight in the eyes of our customers, partners, and funders so that we can further our impact with displaced people around theglobe.
You’re joining a small but mighty team of marketing and communications professionals (Senior Graphic Designer, DigitalSocialMediaSpecialist,Marketing Coordinatoretc.) that arelooking to share Alight’s story with the world.
The Role
Based in your chosen location, you’ll be guided by and receive support from the Marketing & CommunicationsDirector.Simply put, you are a great writer and storyteller, comfortable working across a range of mediums, from long-form blog posts topunchycampaign copy to concise press releases. This role will help shape Alight’s voice and presence in the world.
You’ll know you’re doing well ifthe stories you writeabout Alight’s work and peopleinspireexternal audiences. You will help your colleagues turn their ideas and projects into editorial stories that communicate how Alight builds a meaningful life with and for the displaced.
Building a shared organization takes time and intention.We will always be becoming Alight, which means your work will evolve as well. For now, here’s how you could anticipate spending your time:
Writing & Editing–50% of time
LeadAlight’s storytelling acrossmultiplechannels – from website case studies to Op-Eds to pitch decks - you help people across the organization tellAlight’sstories in the mostcompelling waypossible.
Provide proofreading, writingand editing support to your colleagues – helpingsupport the creation of communication materials such as fact sheets,presentations,reports, and other external facing assets.
Manage and writeconference andaward submissions on behalf of Alight that build credibility for theorganization.
Content Management-30% of time
Build and maintain relationships with a network of contacts across Alight who you can turn to for the latest updates and information from their teams. You’ll make the voices and information you gather even more powerful by organizing and sharing it with colleagues in a way that’s accessible.
Ensureconsistency in how we capture, track and archive storiesand statsabout Alight’s work
Collaborate with teams across the organization to ensure brand consistency across all external-facing communicationsand contribute to the evolution of thebrandlanguageguidelines
Serve as a point person for Alight’spublishedbrandmaterials,managing translationsif required
Speakers Support – 10%
Act as the liaison between the Marketing & Communications team and Alight’s 15 speakers in the Fresh Speakers Bureau (public speakers training)
New or Interesting Projects/Progressive Responsibilities–10%

Qualifications

Minimum2-3years’ experience inwriting, PR, marketing or a related role
A creative and critical thinker with an ability to craft narratives for multiple audiences
An eye for details and a keen proofreading ability – you nerd out on grammar and catch typos before they go out the door
You are mindful of cultural nuances, and open to feedback from people with different points of view
Self-direction and motivation key; an ability to grasp details and always see the bigger picture
Excellent interpersonal skills: the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively. Ability to establish productive relationships with all kinds ofpeople.
Excellent multi-tasking skills: the ability to work productively in a fast-paced environment + the ability to handle multiple taskssimultaneously.
