A Baker is central to the Panera essence of warmth and quality. Our breads and pastries are an important brand representative, embodying the knowledge expertise and commitment to baking bread and baked goods that help exemplify our “Concept Essence” at Panera.

Fundamental Job Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Bake the majority of a cafe’s fresh bread and pastries.
• Work as a team with Management and fellow Team Members.
• Show respect for the equipment and facility by adhering to cleaning and proper operation.
• Ensure all Panera products are prepared according to Panera’s standards.
• Team player; accept responsibility for all tasks delegated by Management.
• Meet the highest standards and consistency in food preparation, sanitation, and safety.
• Perform operational activities such as stocking, prep, and sanitation.
• Primarily work alone with minimal supervision.
• Incorporate the concept essence and cultural values into daily operation of the bakery-cafe.

Physical Demands of the Essential Functions

• Ability to stand up for ten hours at a time.
• Ability to lift up to fifty pounds.
• Ability to move at a fast pace.

Working Conditions While Performing the Essential Functions

• Evening/Late Night Shift
• Fast paced, multi-tasked environment.

Qualifications Preferred

• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Desire to learn and develop.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience working in food preparation.
• Enthusiasm, energy and positive attitude.
• Self-starter, able to work independently.

• Uniform/Appearance - Wears the proper uniform, is well groomed and makes a good impression.
• Job knowledge - Demonstrates a working knowledge of their job. Demonstrate a desire to do the job well.
• Attitude - Employee gets along well with peers and management staff.
• Complete knowledge of bakery menu items and preparation.
• Attendance - Demonstrates responsibility for their schedule.
