Software Engineering builds the brains of Waymo's fully autonomous driving technology. Our software allows the Waymo Driver to perceive the world around it make the right decision for every situation, and deliver people safely to their destinations. We think deeply and solve complex technical challenges in areas like robotics, perception, decision-making and deep learning, while collaborating with hardware and systems engineers. Some Examples Projects Tackled By The Team Include
Machine learning is at the core of solving autonomous driving technology. However, it often takes many iterations to create the highly performing models that are required by Waymo, which means the velocity at which Waymo could iterate on the models is the key to success. The ML Productivity team, part of the Waymo ML Infra team, is responsible for improving the velocity of ML iterations at Waymo.

• Design a process to coordinate the training and release of multiple dependent models.
• Identify the top user pain points in developer experience across the ML journey, and work with the rest of the ML Infra team in addressing the pain points.
• Build ML pipelines that automate the entire ML lifecycle, including data extraction, model training, and evaluation.

The team has already made hundreds of engineers at Waymo more productive by cutting the model iteration time significantly, and further efforts here are critical to Waymo’s future success. Join us in this ride to the future, and bring autonomous driving technology to the world together.
At a Minimum, We’d Like You To Have

• BS in Computer Science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
• Passion for developing machine learning tools for users.
• Strong Python and/or C++ programming skills.
• Experience with building large-scale ML pipelines.

It’s Preferred If You Have

• Comfortable with CI/CD Pipelines.
• MS or PhD in Computer Science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
• Familiarity with orchestration tools, such as Airflow or Kubeflow.
• Knowledge of data processing architectures, data modeling, DevOps, data management practices and processes.

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below.
