Are you a seasoned social media pro with strong news judgment and a knack for creative visual storytelling? MSNBC Digital is looking for a social storytelling editor to produce creative, original content for its flagship social media accounts and homepage.

The editor will be responsible for planning, creating and executing strategic social rollouts for MSNBC columns, blogs and top moments from air. You'll work with the original social video team and art team to assess on-air moments, photos and other visual elements and package them for social platforms, including Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker who knows how to create scroll-stopping and shareable social content that audiences find engaging. The role is best suited for a creative, digital native who has a deep understanding of the languages of various social media platforms.

This position is represented by the NewsGuild-CWA and is based in New York or LA.

Responsibilities Include

• Execute day-to-day posting strategy for MSNBC’s flagship Instagram account and its visual storytelling efforts across Facebook and Twitter
• Work with the original social video team to identify and produce social video for TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook and Twitter
• Think strategically about how to engage social audiences
• Write compelling and accurate social copy that deeply engages audiences
• Create original social content and graphics for MSNBC’s social accounts
• Repackage text and video content for distribution on social platforms

Additional Requirements

• Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

Qualifications

Qualifications

• 1 or more years' experience working in social media or news
• Excellent writing skills, solid news judgment, and a creative eye
• Experience creating shareable content on Instagram
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent and comparable years of working experience

Additional Preferred Skills

• Basic video editing skills
• Working knowledge of Photoshop and graphic design
• Familiarity with national politics
• Awareness of MSNBC talent and brands
