The role

We are looking for a Senior Managing Editor to join our Content team. This role will be responsible for managing a team of content creators across a variety of formats, business verticals, and distribution channels. This includes content for news articles, evergreen articles, videos, app content, newsletters, podcasts, infographics, etc. The Senior Managing Editor must be data- and process-driven, as he/she will own the content creation process and work with our platform team to set and then hit team goals. This role will help drive prioritization of content creation through planning cycles and working cross-functionally with outside teams to balance content needs and budgets. The Senior Managing Editor will help us continue to reach our goal of educating and informing members with independent and fact-based content to help them get their money right.

What you’ll do:

Reporting to the Head of Content, this role will...

• Develop written, audio, and video content to be shared across distribution channels including newsletter, app, website, podcast, and social media
• Stay on top of new editorial and publishing platforms, ensuring SoFi’s content breaks through the clutter and reaches its target audience in authentic and interesting ways
• Establish, implement, and continue consistent editorial standards, including voice, tone, perspective, and copy guidelines
• Work with cross-functional teams (including Business unit leaders, Member, PR, Brand, SEO, and Creative) to develop, execute and measure the success of integrated and strategic content campaigns to drive member engagement, as well as new member acquisition
• Manage content creators (both with an internal and external team of writers, editors, and agencies), developing a systemized approach to drive scale, innovation, testing, and iteration
• Create contextual and relevant content to serve as a key company differentiator and position the company as an industry and consumer resource
• Understand the customer journey to inform content opportunities, ultimately removing barriers to conversion

What you’ll need:

• Fintech experience and journalism background are strongly preferred
• 10+ years of experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Management experience, both internal as well as freelancers and agency partners
• Experience with various forms of content, including digital articles, newsletters, social, video, and podcasts
• Bachelor’s degree
• Ability to continually improve workflows to meet demanding KPIs
• Experience with acquisition, retention, and engagement strategies
• Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging, creative content for multiple channels including editorial partnerships, newsletters, SEO, podcasts, etc.
• Strong understanding of personal finance, what is newsworthy, and how to drive contextual understanding

Compensation And Benefits

The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.
