As an Associate Category Manager, you will deliver strategic insight in support of PepsiCo Beverages. This role will be responsible for the day-to-day category management support on key West Division Convenience Store customers. Specifically, this role will work to identify market trends, competitive threats, brand strategies and customer strategies in order to penetrate new and emerging opportunities in the category.


This position can be located in Southern California, Phoenix, AZ or Denver, CO.


Responsibilities


  • Primary responsibility is to be a thought leader and “go-to” resource for all category, shopper and consumer trends, and merchandising solutions for the sales teams. Using POS, Syndicated, and Panel data, analyze category across markets, shoppers, and consumers to make business-building recommendations for both portfolio and category growth.
  • Secondary responsibilities include leveraging multiple data sources to gain a deep understanding of consumer and shopper behavior and interactions across products, geographies, cohorts, and occasions. This analysis will be used to drive the strategic planning process.


You will have an opportunity to assist in immediate and long-term impacts in a changing beverage category. You will drive the discovery and use of shopper, consumer, customer and market insights in category strategies and planning, customer communication, and initiatives that enhance both PepsiCo and category performance. This work includes new product introductions, pricing analyses, seasonal reviews and programs, promotional planning and evaluation, consumer usage analyses, understanding the impact of assortment changes on category and brand growth.


You will also be required to:


  • Work closely and establish trust with key retail customers
  • Act as a strong, clear, objective, and inspiring voice of initiative
  • Participate in the strategic planning process
  • Provide expert analysis and insight to sales team members to enable them to effectively make optimal decisions in the marketplace, and share that learning across the broader organization
  • Leverage shopper and consumer insights in the development of category strategies and retailer relevant sell stories
  • Utilize both internal and 3rd party consumer/market trends and analysis to inform portfolio strategies
  • Keeps abreast of developments and best practices in category management. It is expected that you will pursue the knowledge needed to improve departmental capabilities and improve professional competence
  • Utilize syndicated consumer and market data for the purposes of uncovering compelling insights
  • Integrate information from many sources and develop actionable insights and recommendations
  • Own the creation and presentation of content delivered to retail partners


Compensation and Benefits:

  • The expected compensation range for this position is between $81,000- $135,600 based on a full-time schedule
  • Bonus based on performance and eligibility; target payout is 15% of annual salary paid out Annually.
  • Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting actual starting salary
  • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.


Qualifications


  • Previous Category Management, Insights, Analytics, or other relevant experience within the consumer packaged goods industry
  • Strong PC skillset (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Experience with standard data resources and solutions such as IRI, Nielsen, PDI etc. (Syndicated POS and Panel).
  • Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking and thought leadership skills.
  • Collaboration is essential in this role as the person will work very closely with sales leads, cross-functional teams as well as retailers directly
  • Previous experience in analyzing and interpreting data.
  • This position is limited to persons with indefinite right to work in the United States
  • Strong planning/organizing skills; the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, ability to interact confidently and effectively with team members, management and customers.
