Position description
The Department of Bioengineering at the University of California, Berkeley under the supervision of Professor Niren Murthy is seeking an Assistant/Associate Project Scientist to develop and improve Lipid nanoparticle(LNP) based system for drug, DNA, RNA, or gene editing system delivery.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Lipid Nanoparticles (LNPs) discovery program focused on the utero, cardiovascular, and neuro fields. The successful candidate will be adept at using a range of strategies to design and modify lipids, including peptide- and antibody-based modification, as well as surface charge modification of LNPs. The aim of the project is to develop new LNPs with superior targeting specificities - such as organ specificity, tissue specificity, and cell type specificity - for drug/mRNA/gene-editing system (CRISPR-based) delivery.
The candidate will be responsible for rapidly preparing and screening LNPs formulations, both in vitro and in vivo, using reporter mRNA systems. They will also develop animal models to evaluate the LNPs' delivery efficiency, gene editing (CRISPR-based) efficiency, and potential toxicity.
The candidate will also provide training to undergraduate/graduate/and postdoc candidates and assist the principal investigator in grant writing, preparing manuscripts, and presenting results at various conferences.
