Job Description
Description of Position

Hiring Range: $50,433 to $64,380
First Application Review: April 12, 2023
Start Date May 1, 2023

The job includes;
1. Expertise in coaching specific sport as demonstrated by;
a. Successful recruiting
b. Player development
c. Practice organization and progression
d. Team success in competition: familiar with a variety of offenses and defenses to capitalize on team strengths and utilize opponent weaknesses to achieve winning seasons, and qualify for post-season play

2. Fundraiser:
a. Organize multiple camps and clinics (both on-campus and satellite) every year
b.Connect with Alumni
c.Attend Hall of Fame functions, including Golf Tournaments, Socials, etc.
d.Hosting alumni gatherings
e. Coordinating friends and family campaigns with the team
f.Making calls and connections to solicit gifts.
g. Promote awareness of the organization’s mission and work
h.Cultivate a network of dedicated donors and volunteers
i.Spot new fundraising opportunities
j. Plan fundraising initiatives to help the department meet financial goals
k. Form strong relationships with external stakeholders
3. Knowledge of and adherence to college, conference, and national policies, procedures, and rules as applicable for a successful program, as demonstrated by;

4. Contributes to the academic progress of student athletes as demonstrated by;
a. Strive for above average team GPA (as compared to the general student body)
b. Retention of recruited and eligible student athletes
c. Transferability of student athletes
5. Cooperative and engaged in department, college, and the community at large as demonstrated by;
a. Participate in projects
b. Speaking engagements
c. Clinics
d. Teaching
e. May be required to drive players in Yavapai College van to and from games

Minimum Expectations & Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution, preferably in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Recreation, Sports Management or related field
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License
  • Four years of collegiate coaching experience
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Regular attendance is an essential job function as it demonstrates dependability towards the performance of job duties
  • Familiarity of the NJCAA

Preferred Skills & Abilities

  • Master's Degree from an accredited institution, preferably in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Recreation, Sports Management or related field
  • More than 3 years of head coaching experience at the NJCAA,NCAA or NAIA level
  • Professional experience in a community college/higher education work environment
  • Ability to appreciate and embrace the uniqueness of Yavapai College and its athletics program
  • Demonstrated success in their specific sport program
