Overview:

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for an available Assistant Plant Manager opportunity. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this position will be responsible for assisting and ensuring that all quality and production requirements are met by supervising daily operations of assigned departments, building and maintaining an effective supervisory team, and analyzing operations on a continual basis to improve costs, quality and service. The successful candidate will seek to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations while consistently meeting production needs and requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible to work with the 2nd Night Manager on control of chemicals and the dollars involved.
  • Supervise daily operations of 1st shift manufacturing operations for the plant.
  • Ensure all sanitary, quality and consistency requirements are met in area of responsibility.
  • Build an effective relationship with internal and external customers.
  • Ensure required preventive maintenance is being performed on all department equipment.
  • Exercises good leadership and communication skills.
  • Build and maintain an effective management team.
  • Analyze operation on a continual basis to improve costs, quality and service.
  • Establish goals for yourself and the operation.
  • Assist the Plant Manager in managing the daily activities of the facility.
  • Participate in the development, implementation and maintenance of Total Quality Management (TQM) process.
  • Ensure goal attainment in area of responsibility.
  • Ensure smooth transition and communication system is in place between shifts.
  • Directs subordinates engaged in production, sanitation, cooking and chilling.
  • Ensure effective production teams and team building.
  • Take all measures to ensure distributor/customer total satisfaction.
  • Approves 1st shifts time keeping and distributes payroll.
  • Ensure all production requirements are met.
  • Actively participate in capital expenditure requisitioning process, budgeting and goal setting.
  • Oversees the 1st shift support groups such as security, human resources, quality systems, maintenance, distribution and first aid to ensure that there are good working relationships.
  • Actively participate/support in the management of department functions that include the following: Production Scheduling, Purchasing, Shipping and Receiving, Area Sanitation, Heat Processing, Product Chilling and other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.
  • Actively participate in the research, justification, and implementation in long-range planning of the facility.
  • Ensure all rules, policies and regulations of Company are enforced.
  • Assist in the training and development of all employees in area of responsibility, specifically Managers, Supervisors and Lead Persons.
  • Attend the staff meeting on a daily basis and be a part of conducting the daily Supervisors meeting.
  • Direct and enforce the Safety Program in area of responsibility.
Qualifications:
  • Exposure to and/or experience in Quality Assurance, Total Quality Management (TQM), Hazard Analysis Control Critical Process (HACCP) and Safety are a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree or knowledge equivalent to such degree is required.
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years related industry experience required, preferably in food plant sanitation, smokehouse operations and meat-processing production
