Summary

OSU-Cascades is seeking an Assistant Director of Counseling. This is a full-time 1.00 FTE, 12-month, professional faculty position. This position will be located in Bend, OR.

The Assistant Director of Counseling serves as a crucial resource on the OSU-Cascades Student Success team. The Student Success team is responsible for creating a welcoming, engaging, and dynamic environment for all students. The purpose of this position is to provide personal counseling to students experiencing psychological, social and/or other difficulties that negatively impact their retention at OSU-Cascades.

The Assistant Director provides counseling treatment and crisis management to all OSU-Cascades students and consultation to OSU-Cascades faculty and staff. Responsibilities for this position include; treatment planning for individuals and groups; records management; case consultation; supervision of OSU-Cascades interns and practicum students, and providing psychoeducation/workshops. The incumbent must ensure compliance with university policy, state and federal laws, regulations and industry standards.

Duties

40 % Counseling and Consultation

-Provide individual and group counseling to OSU-Cascades students utilizing appropriate assessment methods and brief, time sensitive treatments; maintain up-to-date files, write reports, and accumulate job-related client information commensurate with the current standards of the profession
-Maintain and promote the highest ethical and professional standards commensurate with training and licensure
-Serve as primary counselor for cases which are referred directly from the OSU-Cascades Student Care Team
-Provide daytime crisis support and intervention
-Consult with community mental health practitioners to provide appropriate treatment and referrals.
-Consult with faculty, staff, parents and students on mental health issues or make appropriate referrals to campus resources

30% Clinical Management and Oversight

Oversight of daily operations including:

· Manage the Student Wellness email communication. This includes timely response to all campus inquiries for counseling, health, and wellness information (includes tracking and follow up for all student inquiries)

· Manage counselors’ schedules (interns and staff) and appoint clients to counseling for initial sessions based on known level of acuity, counselor skill and treatment planning

· Monitor and address issues within the shared physical space and equipment of the counseling offices

· Triage daytime crisis response

- Develop, implement, manage, and evaluate counseling model of care and crisis support planning to maintain current best practices in college counseling

- Develop policies and procedures for student internship program

- Facilitate weekly consultation for all staff counselors

- Provide guidance, oversight and professional development to counselors and interns

- Oversight and coordination of counselor-led workshops and events

- Provide orientation and onboarding for new staff

- Serve as a representative of the counseling team to supervisors and staff, attending CARE meetings as consultant.

- Gather and organize counseling and counselor-led activities utilization data
- Attend and participate in regular staff meetings

20% Supervision of Interns

-Review, edit, acknowledge, and offer development of all clinical notes
-Watch video tape of clinical sessions
-Provide one hour of supervision weekly per intern
-Participate in meetings and communication with site supervisor and OSU Master’s in Counseling Program Internship Supervisor
-Drop in consultation and support
-Complete academic reviews of student interns 1x/term
-Provide orientation and onboarding for student interns
-Support professional development and communicate/coordinate development opportunities

10% Other duties as assigned

-Other duties and special projects as assigned by the supervisor
- Pursue professional development in service of the responsibilities of the position and the profession.

- Conduct trainings for faculty and staff during Fall Orientation and as requested.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $73,000.00 - $78,000.00 per year
