If so, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Office of Admissions is interested in getting to know you.
Admissions Counselors (official title is Assistant Director of Admissions) at Embry-Riddle are required to execute a recruitment plan by using available resources to meet targeted enrollment goals to include; national travel promoting ERAU in a variety of forums, creating relationships with high school guidance, consultants and college counselors, maintaining continuous contact with prospective students during the admissions process, and staying current on industry and campus news that could impact the prospective student.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Conduct Admissions presentations nationally to individuals and groups of prospective students in targeted cities.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of all college recruitment activities and events.
  • Maintain contact with prospective students through phone, email and Marketing materials in order to provide career and/or pre-college counseling.
  • Build relationships with the counseling staff of high schools and community colleges.
  • Select, arrange and visit high schools.
  • Select and recruit at local, regional and national college fairs.
  • Develop a travel itinerary to represent the University in a variety of forums and to meet and recruit prospective students.

  • Work with the student information system in order to review students' application files/render admissions decisions and maintain statistical data of the prospect/applicant cohort.
  • Process, review and render admissions decisions on prospective students and applicants.
  • Actively monitor and respond to targeted enrollment goals status throughout the recruitment cycle.
This position will require extensive travel time away from the office. May work evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Willing to travel extensively (8-10 weeks per academic year), work evenings, weekends and possibly minor holidays.
  • Self-motivated and self-assured.
  • A major conviction in the last 3 years, including (but not limited to) driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, and/or homicide or assault by motor vehicle.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must meet the University’s standards for approved drivers. Unacceptable driving records (as stated in the Use of Equipment and Vehicles Procedure 1.17) include the following (for three years from the date of each occurrence):
    • More than 3 moving violations and/or accidents in 3 years
    • More than 2 moving violations and/or accidents in any 1 year
    • A major conviction in the last 3 years, including (but not limited to) driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, and/or homicide or assault by motor vehicle.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and effective listening skills.
  • More than 2 moving violations and/or accidents in any 1 year
  • Analytical skills with knowledge of information systems and technical expertise with Microsoft operating systems, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook/email, and Internet end-user applications.
  • Capacity to see projects through to successful completion (i.e. follow-up).
  • More than 3 moving violations and/or accidents in 3 years
  • Ability to deal positively with the public using public relations skills, and to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with others.
  • Support co-workers in their assigned territories as needed, including but not limited to travel and presentations.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least one year of admissions or related experience.
