Job Description

We are hiring for an awesome Assistant Director to be a part of the Hillel of San Diego team based at UCSD! DM me for more details.


What You’ll Do:
  • In partnership with other Hillel of San Diego team members, you’ll design and execute an engagement strategy to connect more than 70% of Jewish students at UC San Diego to Hillel’s mission.
  • You’ll use your creative side to execute a robust social media presence for UCSD.
  • You’ll build relationships with students and both create and support Jewish programming for them.
  • You’ll supervise, mentor and support the growth of 2 full-time engagement staff.
  • You’ll manage a programming and engagement budget to make sure we are always on track.

On a day to day basis you will:

  • Support the staff hiring process and training of new professionals.
  • Maintain and balance the program and engagement budget for UCSD.
  • Build meaningful relationships with university cultural centers to further allyship and coalition building.
  • Staff Shabbat, holiday, and socialprogramming, overseeing all logistics and often participating in facilitation of Jewish learning experiences.
  • Build out and execute a comprehensive social media presence for UCSD.
  • Connect with students to get them more involved in Jewish life on campus.
  • Lead weekly staff meetings and 1:1 supervision.
  • Oversee the collection of our engagement data in partnership with Hillel International.
  • Help plan freshman retreats, alternative breaks,and Taglit-Birthright Israel, including pre- and post-trip programs.
  • Be a thought partner with the Associate Executive Director and other assistant directors.
  • Participate in ongoing Jewish learning and professional development.
