DESCRIPTION:
The Assistant Coordinator – Sports Management will assist with the overall management of the Sports Management & Tourism Department facilities (i.e., Round Rock Sports Center or Round Rock Multipurpose Complex) as assigned, including the events, programs, personnel, marketing, equipment, policies and procedures, and capital projects.
Posted range is the starting salary. Pay rate offered is based on experience.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Assists with the development and execution of all programming for all ages from youth to adults within the facility including camps, clinics, and other sport-specific training programs.
Assists in creation of facility-owned tournaments, leagues, and events to fill available space at the facility and meet the demand of area teams and athletes.
Assists in determining methods to effectively engage our target marketing which may include maintaining websites, identifying social media trends, and developing graphics & promotional materials.
Coordinates referees and coaches for programmed activities.
Supervises part-time staff to oversee the facility.
Coordinates and performs event set-up and take-down.
Assists with the scheduling of facility events and programs.
Maintains relationships with other organizations within the local sports community.
Assists with daily operations: monitors facility and equipment usage, applies risk management policies; assists with oversight of custodial and facility maintenance needs.
Assists with development, interpretation, and application of policies and procedures as they relate to the facility and consult with and responds to questions and concerns of users.
Maintains professional knowledge as required for the position; Serves as a contributing member of the staff.
May assist with other marketing duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Bachelor’s Degree required. One (1) year of additional related work experience may substitute for each year of college required.
Minimum of two (2) years of sports management-related work experience is required.
Experience in marketing is preferred.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Experience in athletic or recreational facility management, event coordination, personnel administration and/or managing recreational activities is preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication, public relations, organizational, planning and computer skills are required.
Ability to manage in a diverse environment with focus on customer service is required. Must be willing to be hands-on with staff and operations.
Primary work hours include evenings, weekends and holidays. Must be willing to work event-based hours.
