Key Accountabilities

- Collaborate with commercial/origination, finance, and other key business leaders in support of Pattern's strategic business goals.
- Lead special projects as requested.
- Partner closely with the accounting team to apply technical accounting principles as a key advisor and subject matter expert.
- Support Pattern's internal control environment, including review and update of control narratives and accounting policies.
- Oversee the preparation of the annual corporate financials, board presentations and investor presentations and support the annual audit. Oversee the preparation and audit of individual project-level audits (25 plus) – principally US GAAP but will also include some IFRS audits.
- Ensure the timely completion of account reconciliations.
- Collaborate with Senior Accounting Leadership on strategic accounting and corporate initiatives affecting accounting organization, including resources, priorities, and special projects.
- Oversee priorities, responsibilities and performance of multiple-level 40 plus accounting team members located in Houston and San Francisco.

Educational Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting is required. A graduate degree in accounting is desirable. CPA certification required.
Required Work Experience
- Experience in the power generation or energy industry and familiarity in industry accounting standards is highly desirable.
- Experienced in complex structured businesses with a background in consolidation, corporate accounting, development, construction, and operations accounting.
- The candidate should have a minimum of 15 plus years of experience in public accounting or a combination of public accounting and industry. Public accounting experience preferable with a “big-4” firm. Public company/SEC reporting experience is a plus.
- Substantial experience preparing and communicating audit-quality technical accounting analyses and documentation is essential.
- Proven ability to analyze business matters or process improvements and implement or recommend solutions.
- Experience with public company internal control standards is essential.
- Strong leadership skills that collaborates well within the accounting team, as well as other inter-departmental groups including, development, operations, finance and legal.
- Strong US GAAP technical accounting skill set with broad knowledge and experience of external reporting requirements (private company and SEC-level disclosures), including communications to the board of directors and investors.
Technical Skills
- Willingness to work reasonable overtime hours to meet closing and reporting deadlines and to travel as required.
- Ability to lead and conduct research on technical accounting issues and prepare high quality, persuasive, written memoranda and communicate conclusions to management, accounting team and auditors
- Knowledge of accounting for derivatives, leases, business combinations, foreign subsidiaries, consolidations, tax equity structures, debt refinancing, and energy transactions.
- Ability to prepare financial statements for multiple entities. The use of Workiva software or similar reporting platform is desirable.
- Ability to motivate direct and cross-functional teams to produce quality work products within tight deadlines and simultaneously manage several projects.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, transactional, environment.
