Job Description

As an Assistant Controller, you will be reporting directly to the Division Controller of Direct Operations. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting analyzing and reporting division results, efficiencies, and productivity, as well as analyzing and publishing division’s internal financial statements vs. budget and prior year to positively impact division’s performance and profitability.

  • Assist with fiscal year budgets and monthly forecasts with input from each branch operation.
  • Preparation of quarterly financial statement including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow.
  • Assist in developing and implementing Corporate Policies and Procedures within Direct Operations.
  • Assist in coordination of activities with other departments
  • Work with external auditors by supplying key information on quarterly reviews and year-end audits.
  • Act as a liaison between Corporate and Direct Operations and assist Direct Operations with accomplishing tasks through Corporate.
  • Assist with Quarterly Accrual true ups within Direct Operations.
  • Assist with accounting research and the development of position papers to document the Company’s decision on “one-off” or unusual transactions.
  • Intercompany transaction reporting and eliminations
  • Implement divisional P/L system including verifying division P/L transactions and identifying and implementing corrective measures to problems.
  • Various account analysis and reconciliation.
  • Assist in annual impairment testing of long-lived assets.
  • Assist with implementing a standardized internal control framework across all Direct Operations, including the documentation of key processes for SOX compliance and testing.
  • Periodic travel to assist the Controller with reviews of activities and initiatives within the various Direct Operations including international affiliates.
  • Ensure proper control of expenses by performing comprehensive monthly analysis of expenses compared to budget and prior month trend. Communicate any issues to management and initiate timely corrective action as necessary.
  • Assist in auditing Direct Operations Balance Sheets to ensure Corporate Governance.
  • Review monthly reporting package submissions from Direct Operations to ensure completeness, accuracy and compliance with corporate policy and procedure. Communicate any issues or anomalies to management in a timely manner.
  • Assist in due diligence and post-merger integration of acquired Direct Operations
  • Assist in maintaining policies and procedures for the Direct Operations and monitoring compliance.
  • Assist in maintaining and publishing business analysis and monthly financial reports for executive reviews.


Required


  • Ability to travel at least 25% (overnight)
  • Demonstrated experience with profit and loss responsibilities, corporate accounting, and internal control compliance
  • Minimum 5 years finance and accounting experience
  • Proficient in Office software (i.e., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and accounting theory
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting


Preferred


  • CPA or MBA
  • Prior experience with E-Automate and/or Hyperion
  • Accounting experience, preferably within Copier Dealer Industry
