Job Description
Position Objective:


The Assistant Controller will directly support the day-to-day functions of the Accounting and Finance department, with responsibility for planning, directing, coordinating and executing accounting operational functions. The Assistant Controller will assist the Controller with oversight of accounting functions and contributions to the broader finance team of Better Health Group. The incumbent will report to the Controller and will assist in managing the consolidation of all financial data for an accurate accounting of consolidated and disaggregated business results, issue internal and external financial statements, and assist with board packages and management reports.


Responsibilities:


  • Prepare accounting policies and enhance existing controls
  • Oversee certain operations of the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, tax, bank and cash management oversight, bank reconciliations, Credit Card oversights
  • Assisting Financial Planning & Analysis with budgeting
  • Additional duties as assigned
  • Identifying solutions to discrepancies in financial records
  • Assisting with billing and tax documentation preparation
  • Oversee the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards
  • Work with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit
  • File quarterly and annual reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission


Position Requirements/ Skills:


  • Oracle NetSuite knowledge preferred, but not required
  • Proficient with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for real-time collaboration
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Previous intercompany experience preferred
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations
  • CPA or CMA strongly preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial close, reporting, etc.)
  • At least 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably at a global public accounting firm
  • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting
