Online Vintage Home Furnishings company is looking for an Assistant Buyer to join our growing eCommerce buying team. Because the retail/wholesale part of our brand is still in its infancy, this position offers the unique opportunity to make meaningful contributions to our business's growth and trajectory. In this role you will assist the category Buyer(s) in vendor management, assortment optimization, and overall running of the business. The Assistant Buyer will provide instrumental organization and support to our team; specifically owning the entire pipeline of sku ingestion including curation, initial pricing, copy review and onsite collection management. Moreover, we will rely on you to closely monitor all aspects of the accounts and skus within your purview and to proactively identify issues before they become larger.
The Assistant Buyer will also provide a key point of contact and support to our vendors. As a representative of our brand within the vendor community, you will be a responsive and collaborative partner.
This role is highly collaborative and will work in tandem with our Merchandising, Sales, Onboarding, and Analytics teams in order to maximize all of our opportunities for growth.
Responsibilities:
l Partner with manager on assortment selection and optimization in order to meet sales goals and KPI's
l Ownership of day to day vendor management and product assortment for their vendor portfolio
l Execute on an operational process for efficiently onboarding new products; manage end to end sku ingestion pipeline
l Regularly review skus and performance to ensure that products are being displayed in the strongest possible way
l Oversee vendor promotional participation and provide key operational support during sale periods
l Understand the ins and outs of Chairish's platform and present yourself as the subject matter expert when communicating with vendors
l Read out on sales results of owned categories and strategize with manager on opportunities to achieve targets; connect assortment strategies with sales goals
l Develop positive, trusting, and collaborative relationships internally and externally by staying in regular contact throughout the sku ingestion process; managing deadlines and aligning on process in order to meet sku targets.
l Consistent competitive analysis - identifying marketplace trends and white space
Your Experience:
l 2+ years professional experience, ideally in Buying/Merchandising/e-commerce environment
l Demonstrated passion and knowledge of the home category
l A proven track record of partnership and collaboration with key stakeholders
l Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
l Keen attention to detail and organizational skills
l Insatiable curiosity and eagerness to learn
l Proactive problem solver
