Sweet Flower is California’s leading independent cannabis retailer, based in Los Angeles.


Job Summary


We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Control Buyer to join our cannabis retail team in Los Angeles. As a Control Buyer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient procurement and management of inventory for our retail operations. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain stock levels, monitor product quality, negotiate with suppliers, and implement effective inventory control systems to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the cannabis industry, excellent organizational and analytical skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences.


Responsibilities


Inventory Management:


Develop and implement inventory control systems and procedures to optimize stock levels, minimize shrinkage, and ensure product availability.


Monitor inventory levels, conduct regular stock audits, and generate reports to identify trends, forecast demand, and recommend purchasing strategies.


Collaborate with dispensary management to define product assortment and maintain an updated catalog of available products.


Supplier Management


Establish and maintain relationships with licensed cannabis suppliers and negotiate favorable pricing, terms, and conditions.


Continuously evaluate supplier performance, including product quality, delivery timeliness, and compliance with regulations.


Coordinate with vendors to resolve any product-related issues, such as damaged or defective items, and ensure timely resolution.


Purchasing And Replenishment


Place purchase orders based on inventory needs, sales data, and forecasted demand while considering budget constraints.


Monitor order status, track deliveries, and resolve any discrepancies or delays to maintain product availability.


Conduct price comparisons and market research to identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative product options.


Compliance And Regulatory Adherence


Ensure strict compliance with all local and state regulations governing the procurement, storage, and sale of cannabis products.


Maintain a thorough understanding of the evolving cannabis industry regulations and adjust purchasing practices accordingly.


Coordinate with compliance teams to ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting of inventory transactions.


Team Collaboration


Collaborate closely with dispensary managers, sales teams, and other stakeholders to align purchasing strategies with sales goals and customer preferences.


Provide guidance and training to dispensary staff on inventory management best practices and proper handling of products.

Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).


Proven experience as a buyer, preferably in the cannabis industry or a regulated retail environment.


In-depth knowledge of cannabis products, strains, and related regulations in California.


Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.


Excellent negotiation and communication skills for building supplier relationships and resolving conflicts.


Proficiency in inventory management systems and software.


Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.


High attention to detail and accuracy.

Work Environment And Physical Demands


This job operates in a corporate office environment. While performing the duties of this job, this role typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office. The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to and occasionally move or lift objects more than 30 pounds. This position will occasionally require kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing. Expected Hours Of Work


This is a full time, exempt role. Occasional Nights, Evenings, Weekend and Holiday may be required as business needs demand.
