Job Description
Summary/Job Purpose


Responsible for supporting Exelixis’ Indirect Procurement function, its daily tasks, and its strategic projects.. This includes detailed review and approval of ARIBA Purchase Requisition (PRs) to Purchase Order (POs), negotiation of individual purchases or volume buys, and Vendor relationship management. Additional focus on projects to elevate business partner support and drive process improvement as assigned by manager. This role will be positioned in the Procurement Operations function within the Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Department.


Essential Duties And Responsibilities


  • Performs general and ad hoc project support as required.
  • Support PO lifecycle management to make or review any necessary PO changes and final closures.
  • Provide a high level of customer service using to guide business partners through the procurement process.
  • Detailed review, correction, and approval of mid-level complexity PRs to assure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with procurement policy, contract terms, & payment schedules.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable on PTP (Procure-to-pay) projects to improve efficiency of both groups.
  • Collaborate with other SS&P groups to identify user needs and improvements and assist in their implementation.
  • Assist in managing assigned vendors for performance, including contributing to regular business reviews.
  • As needed, support invoice review to ensure contract compliance or PO spend reconciliation.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Coordinate with Receiving to resolve receiving problems and process product returns.Utilize SAP Ariba Suppler Lifecycle Performance (SLP) system to on-board new vendors and maintain existing vendor master data.
  • Assign POs and perform PO updates in line with contract amendments or other needed revisions.
  • Assists in the documentation and management of departmental work instructions
  • Responsible for supporting the day-to-day Indirect Procurement for assigned departments and/or categories by:
  • Keep invoice discrepancies at a minimum and partner with the business, vendors & Accounts Payable to quickly resolve any that occur.
  • Obtain quotes and negotiate one-off purchases or volume buys.
  • Prepare PR’s on behalf of business partners, as needed.


Supervisory Responsibilities


  • May train and assist any new members of Procurement Operations group


Education


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:


  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Master’s degree in related discipline and one year of related experience; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline + three years of related experience; or


Experience


  • Ariba and SAP experience is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications.
  • Minimum one year experience in pharmaceutical or biotech industry preferred.

  • Working knowledge of procurement categories and their associated G/L accounts to ensure proper coding of PRs/POs.
  • Possesses excellent communications skills, both written and oral. Conducts themselves in a professional manner when dealing with team members, our internal customers, and external parties.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The base pay range for this position is $77,000 - $108,500 annually. The base pay range may take into account the candidate’s geographic region, which will adjust the pay depending on the specific work location. The base pay offered will take into account the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity, among other factors.


In addition to the base salary, as part of our Total Rewards program, Exelixis offers comprehensive employee benefits package, including a 401k plan with generous company contributions, group medical, dental and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, and flexible spending accounts. Employees are also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus program, or if field sales staff, a sales-based incentive plan.
