Apprentice Control and Instrumentation Engineer

The Role
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Rocksavage Power Station as an Apprentice Engineer. This position will focus on the Control and Instrumentation (C&I) side of engineering which forms an essential part of operating our power station safely and efficiently – that’s why we need you!
C&I Engineers are responsible for designing, developing, installing, managing, and maintaining equipment which is used to monitor and control our systems, machinery, and processes.
The Rocksavage Team
The Rocksavage team consists of 35 highly skilled and experienced individuals, all focused on continually improving the way we operate, maintain, and manage the plant. Our Reliability Improvement Program has become one of the key drivers in improving how we work. With an ingrained mindset of ‘doing the right thing every day’ we’re making great strides towards the Rocksavage vision of ‘Target 2050. Leading the way to sustainable generation.’ Our goal being to become the first hydrogen co-fired CCGT power station in the country.

The Apprenticeship
An apprentice role gives you the opportunity to gain valuable on the job experience by facing real life scenarios and developing your practical skills faster than a traditional classroom setting
- All relevant training will be provided under our Control & Instrumentation training and competency-based learning programme where you will gain experience of the power plants operational and maintenance processes.
- You will be observing, learning, and understanding a wide range of engineering skills and processes while under the instruction of skilled staff
- Learning and understanding the importance of Health and Safety within the workspace, applying safe working practices in line with our [email protected] value at all times and participating in company HSE initiatives
- This will be a 4 year programme in which you will achieve the Engineering Apprenticeship Level 3

What we are looking for
You should have an interest in starting a career in Engineering and have the dedication to study whilst learning practical skills. You will enjoy this division of engineering if you are logically driven and process based. It will help if you have a special interest in Maths, Computing, Data Analysis and/or the power generation industry. You will need a good knowledge of computer systems and applications. Our ideal apprentice will have excellent communication skills and be a motivated individual with a flexible, enthusiastic and committed attitude to work. You will get on well here if you are positive team player as you will be working as part of a small team.
