Hendrick Motorsports, a leading NASCAR Motorsports operation, is currently seeking a highly motivated engineering student or recent graduate to work a 3, 6, or 12-month assignment as Aerodynamic Engineering Intern. The Hendrick Motorsports internship/co-op program gives students the opportunity to gain practical, challenging, and meaningful on-the-job work experience, while working for NASCAR’s premier race teams. The Aerodynamic Engineering Intern is a position specializing in the development, modification, and testing of improved and new designs for automotive structural members and associated racing equipment. The candidate's experience and education should involve structures, CAD modeling processes, writing procedures, designing, and performing tests. The candidate will also be responsible for assisting with shop activities, entering data into the PLM system and assisting with related engineering projects as assigned. The Hendrick Motorsports internship program provides a hands-on opportunity for students and recent college graduates to gain work experience and contribute to the success of a professional motorsports team.

Job Duties:
- Build your understanding of aerodynamic structures and behaviors around the car by contributing to collaborative discussions, offering ideas, and taking on feedback from others.
- Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components, and systems.
- Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew.
- Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
- Assist engineers using drafting tools or computer-assisted design (CAD)
- Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
- Experiment planning, execution, and data analysis, from wind tunnels to track tests.
- Any other duties as assigned by supervisor
Eligibility Requirements:
- Full-time student (12 semester hours) attending a four-year university and have completed 30 semester hours prior to the start of the internship
- Be legally authorized to work in the United States
- If transferred from a two-year university, have completed 12 semester hours at the four-year university prior to the start of the internship
- Minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.8/4.0 or 3.0/4.0 depending on functional area
