What you’ll be doing
GHJ's Client Accounting and Advisory Services (CAAS) team provides a challenging, rewarding, and entrepreneurial opportunity for individuals to improve their skill set and career trajectory while working with companies across numerous industries with consulting services so they can increase revenue, improve operations, and reach their goals. The CAAS practice is part of GHJ’s larger Advisory practice, offering a broad exposure to forward thinking services, exciting clients, and a rewarding professional environment.

Your Location
This position is hybrid and eligible for primarily remote work but is subject to the manager's discretion depending on the needs of the role to travel to the office or client sites. This role will require you to come onsite for an in-person New Hire Orientation, attend our Firmwide meeting twice a year and a department retreat once a year at the GHJ Los Angeles office.

You will be responsible for…

  • Such other duties as may be assigned
  • Communicates engagement's progress, problems, resolutions, financial information, and other business concerns to the client
  • Manage client projects, workloads, and deliverables across numerous engagements, communicating priority items and status internally and externally
  • Prepares or reviews financial statements, notes, schedules, and memos for discussion between partner and the client, or for discussion between yourself and the client.
  • Primarily remote working, with flexibility on hours and schedules
  • Comfortably communicate with and serve as liaison in client engagements with client’s banker, Board, insurance agent, or other key business partners
  • Occasional travel to client sites, industry events, and to in person meetings at GHJ LA Office
  • Prepares other reports and projects as requested from time to time by PPMD’s
  • Providing advisory services for food and beverage clients ranging in size from startup to $50M. Projects might include but not be limited to cost accounting, financial projections, creating departmental SOPs, establishing, or evaluating internal controls, and evaluating accounting processes
  • Build relationships with, and speaks to, client personnel to obtain an understanding of their business operations, processes, and functions
  • Understand client objectives and maximize the value of the service we provide with respect to attaining those objectives
  • Provides supervision and on-the-job training to staff assigned to engagement, or client’s internal staff
  • Collaboration with staff, seniors, and managers within CAAS and Advisory to meet client deliverables on projects

What we need from you

  • Creative problem solver with a high level of strategic, analytical, and conceptual skills with a passion for helping clients
  • Strong analytical and communication (written and oral) skills required
  • Person of sound judgment, that can manage risks effectively and efficiently
  • Ability to effectively manage client engagement, and to bring a strong point of view to the work

What skills & experience you’ll bring to us

  • Experience with working on multiple engagements, and ability to prioritize and/or adjust priorities to accommodate and adopt to changes, as necessary
  • High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, including experience working with and reconciling trial balances, and experience with pivot tables, lookup formulas, index/match formulas, etc. and writing up details of company’s operations, performance drivers and trends
  • Plans and presents well-organized work product
  • Excellent project execution skills and client deliverable experience
  • CPA certification or pursuit of CPA or equivalent preferred, but not required
  • 7+ years of accounting/assurance experience, with a professional services firm and/or with small to medium food or beverage company as a controller/accounting manager
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, or similar related field with a desire to build practical experience in an advisory arena
  • Understanding of the food and beverage industry, typical go-to-market strategies, cost structures, and key business partners

GHJ complies with all local/state regulations in regards to displaying salary ranges. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, ranges, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications (e.g. JD, technology), for example. At GHJ, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is 125,000 -175,000.
