SUMMARY
This position will represent Grand Valley State University in Southeast, Michigan to prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process. Manage assigned recruitment territory through prospect relationship management, leveraging partnerships, relationships, market research, admission and enrollment data, to increase prospective student interaction, and influence admission yield.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Represent Grand Valley State University in Southeast, Michigan to prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process
- Provide admissions counseling primarily by in-person appointments, small and large group presentations, virtual sessions, phone calls, and emails
- Initiate and maintain relationships with students, families, staff at high schools, and community organizations with a special focus in the Southeast Michigan territory
- Counsel prospective students, families, stakeholders, and influencers about GVSU academic programs, student support, outcomes, and the GVSU brand
- Manage assigned recruitment territory through prospect relationship management, leveraging partnerships, relationships, market research, admission and enrollment data, to increase prospective student interaction, and influence admission yield
- Travel to remote locations and load and transport admissions materials
- Review materials submitted by applicants for the purpose of making admission decisions
- Evening and weekend hours required, especially during fall and spring travel seasons
- Assist with large or special events at the Detroit Center, Grand Rapids, and Allendale campuses when needed
- Outreach with diverse populations
- Other special projects as assigned
- Perform other duties as required/assigned by manager
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, independently, as part of a team, and a strong commitment to working with diverse populations
- Bachelor’s degree
- Valid Michigan driver’s license
- Strong presentation, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Two years of recruitment or related work and/or experience preferred
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at once in a fast-paced environment
- Strong computer skills; ability to learn new computer programs
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Monday through Friday, with some evening and weekend work required at various times throughout the year
- Extensive travel
