The Accounting Manager will support a growing IT Security firm helping the federal government and commercial clients in a fast-paced environment. You will report to the Director of Accounting and support activities related to our financial reporting and financial statements. We are looking for a knowledgeable Accounting Manager who can lead and motivate accounting staff members and increase department accuracy and efficiency. The Accounting Manager will delegate, supervise, and participate in accounting department tasks, oversee the recording, tracking, and reporting of financial information; hire, train, and motivate accounting staff members; develop and implement department controls and procedures; and ensure that the department operates efficiently without sacrificing accuracy.

  • Interface with tax authorities for audit-related matters and schedule and coordinate audit activities
  • Delegate department tasks
  • Provide the CPA firm with necessary tax documents, and complete any tax/accounting-related documents for tax filing
  • Oversee daily activities of the department, ensuring that all projects, month-end, and year-end reports are done on time and accurately
  • Improve financial status by analyzing results; monitoring variances; identifying trends; recommending actions to management
  • Provide timely, relevant, and accurate reporting & analysis of the results of company/division performance against historical, budgeted, and forecasted. Strategic planning results in facilitating decision-making toward the budget and strategic plan achievement.
  • Close and Prepare Month-end financials
  • Lead the company-s annual audit in the capacity of the Lead Audit Liasion working with the Director to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit
  • Produce accurate and complete financial records and practice in audits or reconciliations
  • Assist other departments as they develop strategies, establish objectives, and make decisions that could financially impact the business
  • Guide cost analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures; provide trends and forecasts; explain methods and techniques; recommend actions.
  • Manage department controls
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements, accounting best practices, and compliance
  • Close and Prepare year-end financials Audit, Tax, and Compliance Management
  • Maintain and develop various financial models and standard templates distributed for all of Finance during the planning processes, ensuring quality, accuracy, and focused analytic review
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial reports
  • Analyze financial status by collecting, monitoring, and studying data; recommend actions
  • Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Management, and Payroll
  • Determine the cost of operations by establishing standard fees; collecting operational data.


Qualifications


  • Government contracting experience is required*
  • US Citizenship required*


What skills are required?


  • Knowledge of procedural controls and data validation techniques
  • Nine (9) years of experience in accounting and financial management
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with government contracting, DCAA, and GAAP
  • Experience with Unanet or comparable ERP (Deltek Costpoint, Microsoft Dynamics, ETC)
  • BA/BS in accounting or business administration or equivalent demonstrated experience and knowledge
  • Prior experience managing a team
  • Technical skills including MS Office Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel


What is ideal?


  • Experience with MS SharePoint, Confluence, and/or JIRA is a plus
