Job Description

The General Accounting Manager, working with the Cost Accounting Manager and the Finance Director, will be responsible for multiple accounting functions at the Atwater location and will provide support for facilities in Michigan and Georgia.


This position will ensure that accounting standards are followed and appropriate controls in place. Will provide necessary reporting to corporate and local management along with related written and verbal analysis.


This position is a key part of the local operating management team with significant impact on the global matrixed organization. The management environment is fast paced and dynamic. Systems are complex and sophisticated. #DOLE


  • Supervision of Fixed Asset records and monitoring of controls over assets.
  • Budgeting, reporting, forecasting analysis for cost centers. Assist cost center managers with explanation of causes and remedy of variances.
  • Monitor all general ledger activity to confirm accuracy of posting and promptly respond to any changes deemed necessary, approval of journal entries, account reconciliations and master file maintenance.
  • Supervision of Grower Accounting.
  • SOX compliance reviews.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Ensure capital expenditures are properly controlled and accounted for and savings projects validated. Assist in preparation of requests for expenditure authorization.
  • Preparation of Cash Forecasts.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial records in accordance with company policy and GAAP.
  • Interface with our shared services payables function to ensure that vendors are paid promptly and correctly.


Experience, Knowledge, & Skills You Bring


  • Experience with SAP highly desired.
  • 3+ years’ experience in public or corporate accounting.

Education & Certification


  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required
  • CPA and/or MBA desirable


Physical Requirements


  • Ability to sit and use the computer for extended periods of time; ability to answer phones and use a variety of office equipment; ability to lift 15 pounds and reach overhead.

Hiring Pay Scale $85,000_to $ 100,000_

Job Summary


As a member of the Quality Assurance department you will assure the receiving of quality products by inspecting and grading ingredients and materials purchased and shall help identify quality issues.


  • Complete and monitor Quality Control Receiving records.
  • Collect samples of product and grade for defects, color, character and size according to product specifications and procedures.
  • Comply with DATW Quality Assurance Manual and purchased product specifications to ensure that the correct procedure and/or specification are used in grading product for manufacturing use.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or department manager.
  • Demonstrate cooperative behavior with co-workers, supervisors and management.
  • Notify DATW Quality Assurance management of quality issues.
  • Responsible to comply with all Quality and Food Safety Management standards and/or systems to ensure continual improvement and effectiveness of the Food Safety Management System with the ability to satisfy our customers and provide products that are in accordance to their intended use and safe for human consumption
  • Perform inspections for foreign material as part of the grading process
  • Keep work area in a clean orderly fashion.
  • Follow and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) in the laboratory and on the production floor.
  • Responsible for the grading of incoming frozen, dry and liquid ingredients, including packaging materials
  • Follow company policies and procedures.
  • Follow safety procedures and practices.
  • Pull product samples for microbiological and pesticide analysis according to procedures.


Qualifications


  • Basic computer skills a plus.
  • Laboratory experience a plus, but not required
  • Must have High School diploma (college experience a plus)
  • Reliable attendance is an essential function of the job


Work Environment


  • Industrial plant environment with related noise and temperature.


Physical Requirements


  • Flexibility to work different shifts and days when required
  • Noise produced by manufacturing machinery up to 92 decibels
  • Movements to perform job
  • Must be able to climb stairs up to 20ft daily
  • Must be able to do repetitive movements of, reaching forward up to 24”, pushing & pulling an average weight of 5-10 lbs.
  • Temperatures range from 40° to 50° degree Fahrenheit
  • Requires climbing, standing, stooping, twisting, lifting and other physical
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time on concrete and/or metal grating
  • Must be able to pass job specific Physical Ability Test (PAT)
