JPL is seeking highly motivated college and university students with intellectual curiosity to join our team and aid in our quest to ensure mission success. In this role you would be a vital team member of the Instrument Electronics Prototyping, Integration and Test Group and will report to the Group Supervisor. You will support a senior engineer in ordering and tracking delivery of electronic parts, issuing, and coordinating the fabrication of the printed circuit boards, assist the manufacturing engineer, and monitor and track the assembly of instrument electronics in the manufacturing area. You will also assist in generating board assembly and build instructions, test plans and procedures, and test instructions. You will be available to support testing of prototypes, and engineering and flight electronics boards. You will be trained and certified in soldering to assemble cables and support any rework that may be needed on electronics boards. You will interface with internal team members as well as with members of other groups such as parts’ procurement and engineering team and the electronics fabrication team.
Qualifications

• Ability to understand testing requirements and prepare test procedures and test Instructions.
• Must have a minimum cumulative 3.0 out of a 4.0 GPA or equivalent
• Hands-on experience through senior projects or work-study programs.
• Must be able to work a minimum of 12 hours and a max of 30 hours per week.
• Must be currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or a technical engineering major
• Applies extensive knowledge of practices and standards to generate all required documentation of engineering requirements, progress, and test results.
• Knowledge of applicable Laboratory policies and procedures, NASA policies and procedures, and government regulations.
• Have the training and experience in soldering components on circuit boards and for fabricating cables.
• Electronics testing and troubleshooting.
• Management skills to keep manufacturing tasks on schedule and budget.
• Must be able to come onsite to JPL.
• Prior aerospace industry experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to work on multiple discipline tasks.
• Extensive understanding and wide application of principles, theories, concepts and techniques in electronics circuit design and test.
• Experience working in an ESD safe environment.
• Managing manufacturing of electronics board assemblies and cabling in-house or off lab.

The typical hourly rate for this job in Pasadena, California depending on education level is $19 as a freshman, $22 as a sophomore, $26 as a junior, $29 as a senior
