The Test Operations team is a cross-functional group of engineers skilled across testing, software, robotics, and prototyping. The team drives test execution of Hivemind software, primarily at the system integration level. Test Operations is at the heart of our Hivemind Test group, playing a key role in our mission: driving the testing of the Hivemind software across all Shield AI product lines, verifying system requirements, validating operational performance, and exhibiting our state-of-the-art products to customers. We are currently looking for a skilled Test Engineer who will boost the execution of our mission and play a key role in team growth.

As a Test Engineer in our Test Operations team, you'll find yourself at the confluence of test engineering, robotics, avionics, and flight operations. In collaboration with technical leads and system/testing experts from the Hivemind Test group, you'll have the opportunity to design system integration tests, establish test plans, drive software quality assurance, and direct test execution. This role will offer you a platform to hone your skills in test engineering, robotics integration, and flight test operations.

Ideal candidates should be passionate about testing, robotics, and making mission impact. Prior experience in flight test operations, test engineering, and/or robotics integration is highly desirable.

Projects that you might work on:

• Design and execute/automate test cases for V-BAT’s Ground Control Station
• Design system integration test plans and drive flight test execution for small UAV or VTOL aircraft, such as V-BAT.
• Work with engineering to build and maintain a HIL lab for V-BAT software testing.
• Plan and execute customer facing flight demo events. Supporting test preparation and troubleshooting onsite at flight tests or demo events
• Prototype or produce hardware for flight test operations in the lab or off-site.

Required qualifications:

• Proficiency in Test Engineering practices, including developing test cases, plans, and reporting.
• Proven ability to plan resources and projects effectively, balancing high-quality execution with business impact
• B.S. in a STEM field (e.g., Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics) or equivalent practical experience.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience working on cross-functional projects that involve software and hardware components, preferably in the robotics or aviation industries.
• 3+ years of experience in a technical role in a relevant field.
• Proficiency in SW QA methodologies, tools, and processes

Competencies:

• High level understanding of CI/CD and how it applies to test/QA
• Basic computer engineering skills (networking, bash scripts, software system troubleshooting)
• Python scripting
• Test management
• Agile/SCRUM frameworks
• SDLC / V-model product development

Preferred qualifications:

• Basic software programming skills (Linux shell, Python, C++) 
• Typically requires a minimum of 6+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 4+ years and a Master’s degree; or 2+ years with a PhD
• Experience with modern test management tools (SpiraTest, Jama, JIRA, ADO, Jazz, Cameo, DOORs, etc) 
• Manned or Unmanned flight experience, including quadcopters. Or alternatively, experience with deployed flight operations and testing
• Experience / track record of achieving quality certifications for software products (Type 1, FCC, etc.)
• Experience with robotics or avionics integration and related ecosystem(s)

$123,931.50 - $168,353.70 a year

Total compensation: Salary within range listed above + Bonus + Benefits + Equity (if applicable)

Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location. Information on the benefits offered is here. All offers are contingent on a cleared background check.

Location guidelines-

Onsite = 5 days/week

Remote = Remote but able to come to the office as requested for business needs
