AMHERST PART TIME POSITION DURING SUMMER Academic Department Coordinator (Music Department) : Amherst College invites applications for the Academic Department Coordinator (Music Department) position. The Academic Department Coordinator is a 40-hour per week (academic year), 20-hour per week (summer) position, starting at \$24.57 per hour. Given Amherst\'s distinction as one of the most diverse liberal arts colleges in the country, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ways in which they demonstrate competencies that support this broadly diverse community. The Academic Department Coordinator (ADC) supports the administrative and logistical efforts of the Music Department, ensures the efficient operation of the department office and serves as the principal source of information to the highly diverse campus community. Requires sensitivity to attention to detail, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, issues of confidentiality, as well as the ability to multi-task, exercise diplomacy, and function with accuracy. Summary of Responsibilities: Assist Chair with supporting the department and performing all related administrative and clerical duties. Work with a diverse group of department faculty and staff to carry out duties and functions of the department. Manage the department\'s operating budget and restricted funds, including administering payments to contractors and visitors. Serve as a liaison for the department to our diverse alumni, prospective students, and parents. Coordinate with the Office of Admissions for department review of Arts Supplements and other admissions-related issues. Implement senior awards administered by the department. Manage department website updates. Coordinate department course scheduling. Assist faculty with submitting course proposals, as needed. Coordinate course catalog with the Registrar\'s Office. Coordinate honors thesis proposals and registration details. Respond to student, faculty, and administrative course related inquiries. Coordinate all logistical aspects of the search process for open positions within the department. Manage logistical aspects of reappointment, tenure, and promotion processes. Coordinate all end-of-semester course evaluations for pre-tenure and non-tenure line faculty. Manage room reservations in Arms Music Center (except Buckley Recital Hall). Qualifications: Required: Associate\'s degree or equivalent. 5 or more years of related experience. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including the ability to exercise diplomacy. Commitment to effectively engaging with a diverse community and to contributing to an inclusive environment. Demonstrated organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task. Attention to detail and ability to function with accuracy. Ability to take initiative, and work independently and collaboratively. Experience with, or commitment to DEAI and anti-racism in the arts and/or cultural work. Proficient in MS Office and Google Workspace, and able to learn new software. Preferred: Bachelor\'s degree.
