The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for the administration of medication, coordination of services to residents to include clinic responsibilities, and provides direct supervision to CNA's/Med Techs under the direction of the Resident Care Director.
MAJOR WORK ACTIVITIES:
- Performs other nursing services and responsibilities as assigned by the Resident Care Director or Administrator.
- May assume responsibility of filing in for any position as needed.
- Monitors and counsels medication technicians to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures on medication administration.
- Maintains attendance records/call in log as needed.
- Maintains an accurate charting record.
- Completes admission and discharge paperwork as delegated.
- Oversees care management of residents, ensuring appropriate information is communicated to the Resident Care Director, family members and physician. Asses quality of care issues on a continuous basis through conducting rounds monitoring resident care, documentation, and follow up.
- Reports any changes in physical or mental health of residents to physician or other appropriate staff member.
- Assists with staff interviewing, hiring, performance evaluations and progressive discipline as directed. Responsible for new staff orientation, developing and implementing training programs. Supervises and motivates staff to ensure the provision of high-quality services are delivered.
- Investigates abuse/neglect, grievances and family concerns.
- Assists with TB, flu and pneumonia administration as directed by department director.
- Assigns and reassigns any staff shift responsibilities as needed. Assures all shift documentation and reports are completed and conveyed to the on-coming shift including status reports and acute charting.
- Completes resident assessments as assigned.
- Communicates any appropriate clinical information.
- Supervises personnel in other departments as needed with regard to the delivery of services to ensure a safe, clean, and pleasant environment in the facility.
- Monitors and communicates ADL needs of residents on admit and with any changes.
- Assists with ordering supplies for office or clinical use.
- Assessment and documentation of acutely ill residents or incident-related problems.
- Works towards maintaining each resident’s self-respect, personal dignity, and safety.
- Completes monthly MAR turnover.
- Exposure to peculiarities in behavior and reactions of the aged, including combative residents
- Must be able to lift at least 30-40 pounds
- Good planning, initiation, delivery and evaluation skills with regard to nursing care
- Knowledge of documentation requirements related to timeliness, accuracy and completeness
- May stand, stoop, bend and walk intermittently during the workday
- Working knowledge of State regulations as they apply to the assisted living setting
- Work in a well-lighted office area and/or neighborhood
- Low exposure to infectious diseases
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Associates Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing
Licensure/Certification: Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse North Carolina
Experience: Must be 21 years or older. Must have at least 2 years of previous work experience in geriatric nursing.
