Senior Athletic Trainer Jobs

Organizes educational lectures (e.g. drugs and alcohol, sex, nutrition, and coping skills) for student athletes

Supervises and manages student employees, as necessary, to enhance their academic and professional development

Experience working in team athletics or other related experience

National Athletic Trainer Association Board Certification

Updates student athletes, coaches, athletic administration, parents, doctors, and support staff on athletes' injuries and illnesses

Works with team physicians to determine athlete's eligibility to return to practice and/or competition

Assists physicians with educational talks, including but not limited to, injury prevention and nutrition.

Ability to demonstrate customer service skills in interactions with all patients, families and staff, including high volume and stressful situations.

Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of Athletic Training including conditioning and injury prevention, as well as injury assessment and rehabilitation.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.

Responsible for patient setup and education of in office procedures.

Responsible for brace and crutch fitting and product education.

Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training required, Master's Degree in related field preferred. 2-3 years clinical experience preferred.

Responsible for following patient care from check in to check out.

Liaison between patient, physician or physician office staff.

Responsible for taking patient history, initial evaluation and documentation.

Provide athletic training services for the WNBA Chicago Sky at scheduled team practices and home and way competitions.

Job Type/FTE: Full Time (1.0FTE)

Shift: 40 hrs/wk, Days, 8:00am-4:30pm, M-F

Room patients and obtain all pertinent medical history from patients/parents.

Apply custom casts as well as removal of cast.

Removal of surgical pins, sutures and other post-operative dressings in clinic.

Scribe clinic notes in EMR with minimal mistakes.

Fit and instruct patient how to use braces, boots, crutches, splints and any other DME.

Collect any pertinent medication information from EMR for future clinics.

Manages processes effectively in regard to employee/patient safety.

Promotes a culture of process improvement by establishing unit/department based programs that supports the system’s process improvement goals.

Actively participates on system-wide or hospital-based teams.

Assists with coverage during staff shortages and periods of high census/workload.

Develops appropriate Plan of Care.

Documentation is accurate, complete and timely.

Knowledge of University, NCAA, and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) rules and regulations.

Skill in oral and written English to communicate in a clear and concise manner.

Skill in organization as well as technical and disciplinary skills to help assist the coordinator.

Ability to show sensitivity and understand the unique mission of a historically black educational institution.

Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in exercise physiology/health education, sports medicine or a related field preferred.

Maintains appropriate communication with the Director of Sports Medicine, student-athletes, coaches, and physicians.

Advises management on certification/governance; stays abreast of changes in NCAA legislation and evaluates programs accordingly.

4 years experience with intercollegiate program management.

1 year of management experience.

Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills.

Working in a clinical setting, assisting providers with direct patient care.

Develop relationships with high school athletic trainers in St. Louis region.

Develop teaching materials to support patients and their families with sports injuries.

Documents evaluations, tests, progress reports, daily treatment notes, attendance records, athlete/family education, outcomes, discharge notes, and changes as needed.

Gathers and interprets appropriate data from the medical record, physician, athlete, and/or family as evidenced by documentation.

Re-evaluates athletes as needed, modifying goals and treatment as the athlete's status changes.

Provides cross-coverage as needed throughout Carolina Healthcare System facilities and on-site athletic training coverage at sporting events.
