Join UChicago Medicine, as a Athletic Trainer at our Orland Park and Ingalls location. In this role you will partner with the rest of the clinical team to provide patients the highest quality of care.

The Athletic Trainer is primarily responsible to develope and execute overall sports medicine program for the WNBA Chicago Sky, including injury prevention programs, injury evaluations, injury management, injury treatmen and rehabilitation, educational programs, and counseling for Professional Basketball Players. The Athletic Trainer may also serve as a member of the Orthopaedics care team, under the direction of a Physician or other healthcare professional. The Athletic Trainer assists the physician with a wide range of activities necessary to manage clinical programs.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Provide athletic training services for the WNBA Chicago Sky at scheduled team practices and home and way competitions.
  • Serve as a member of the Orthopaedics care team in the off-season, including assisting Physicians in clinic, providing patient education, assisting in bedside procedures; applies and removes casts, removes sutures and staples and provides wound care following surgery; assists with gait training; assists with clinic flow, paperwork and chart management.
  • Develop and execute overall sports medicine program for the WNBA Chicago Sky, including: Injury prevention programs, injury evaluations, injury management, injury treatment and rehabilitation, educational programs and counseling for Professional Basketball Players.
  • Coordinate and schedule physical examinations and medical referrals for WNBA Chicago Sky Players to determine their ability to practice and compete to then take such information and execute through various sports medicine programs.
  • Other duties as requested
Qualifications:
  • Strong verbal and writing skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to handle a wide variety of public contacts, including conflicts, with patience, tact, coutest, and discretion
  • Prior experience in a collegiate of professional athletics setting preferred; clinical setting preferred
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Board Certified Athletic Trainer
Position Details:
  • Job Type/FTE: Full Time (1.0FTE)
  • Shift: 40 hrs/wk, Days, 8:00am-4:30pm, M-F
  • Unit/Department: Athletic Trainer
  • CBA Code: Non-Union
