Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities

The Journalism Intern should have the following skills, education, and experience:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English) are required

Ability to work remotely and on their own schedule in order to make deadlines

Director of Media and General Manage

: Flexible schedule, college credit, professional networking, and resume-building experience.

Conduct and record quality “On the Street” interviews for our Social Media and website.

A mix of demonstrated skills, abilities and knowledge may be considered in place of educational requirements.

At least 3-5 years' management experience in a news organization is required.

A resume detailing education, training, and employment experience.

Demonstrate leadership and experience for other staff members, providing coaching, instruction and guidance as needed.

Manage staff of Multimedia Journalists (Investigative).

Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong writing and editing skills; ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally, and in writing.

During the Summer semesters, Students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.

Upon decreasing credit hours or graduating, student employment must end.

Up to 20 hours per week.

Background in journalism, broadcast media, or digital communication and media

Ability to work quickly and effectively in a high-intensity environment, often under tight deadline pressures

0-2 years of interactive web design experience

A self-motivated individual with interest and experience in interactive web design

Strong skills in typography, graphic design, and layout

Experience with AfterEffects and Cinema 4D a plus

Working knowledge of HTML, current development practices, and design trends

Diligent, detail-oriented, and able to follow direction well

Conducting outreach to potential and existing customers and onboarding new customers. Project Management and Strategy

Supporting 3rd party partner and vendor relationships, especially within the journalism portfolio, to ensure that Microsoft project requirements are met; and,

Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to distill large amounts of information concisely.

Advanced organizational skills and attention to detail.

Knowledge of Microsoft's products/services/applications preferred.

Representing Microsoft at public gatherings and events focused on the future of journalism and the news business. Operations

Knowledge of photography and an eye for storytelling.

Strong written and/or oral communication skills.

Previous experience editing photos. Adobe experience is a plus.

Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.

Passionate about centering and supporting communities in telling their own stories from their own experiences.

Collaborate with reporters and editors across the organization, including in News, Science and Arts, to produce engaging visual journalism.
