Strong computer skills and knowledge/familiarity with Microsoft Excel

1 year general office administrative experience

Health plan or provider order entry experience preferred

Basic knowledge of medical terminology and/or medical coding preferred

Obtain pre-certifications for diagnostic test

Coordinate patients care via phone with outside care managers

Process referral orders, schedule patient appointments and follow-up with referring provider or specialist for completion of referral order

Obtain authorization for orders from insurance companies

Process orders such as home healthcare, durable medical equipment and respiratory, etc.

Process orders, schedule appointments and follow-up for specialty procedures in order to complete orders for imaging and other requested tests

Prepares reports and maintains the database to retain validated resources and service offerings.

Experience working directly with individuals in need of behavioral health services strongly preferred.

Motivational interviewing or similar skills

Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

Conducts outbound follow-up calls or sends emails to individuals who initially reach out through the helpline in emotional distress or crisis.

Confirms status of linkage efforts with support services provided.

Reports adverse events and near misses to appropriate management authority.

Three years administrative experience in health care preferably performing referral, admissions or registration activities.

This is NOT a remote position.

Performs referral activities for patients including pre-registering patients during intake process. Contacts referral sources to obtain demographic and insurance data.

Inputs and updates all pertinent demographic and financial data.

Investigates and responds to patient inquiries and complaints regarding insurance coverage, payment plans and other financial issues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):

Up to one (1) year of relevant work experience required.

Experience with Web IVRs and obtaining referrals/authorizations for multiple payers strongly preferred.

Healthcare experience in a clinical setting, preferably within the Medicare HMO population is a plus.

Prioritize referrals according to level of urgency, schedules patient appointments as necessary and communicates referral information to patients.

Follow up on any specialty/provider which has not sent summaries/reports to office.

Gathers necessary clinical information and processes referrals, pre-certification, pre-determinations, and pre-authorizes according to insurance plan requirements.

Verifies insurance coverage, benefits and creatrs price estimates, reverifications as needed (ex; first of the month reverifications for managed Medicaid's).

Logs, tracks and reviews managed care approvals and denials.

Attends in-services provided by various health plans.

Travels to off-site locations as necessary.

Responds in a timely manner to last minute/emergency referrals or additional codes performed during a procedure, or procedural changes for pre-authorizations.

Two (2) years' experience in an academic or healthcare related setting providing project or program management is preferred.

Facilitates, coordinates, and manages student enrollments for the TCHATT Program and works closely with the staff.

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Two (2) years’ clerical experience in a medical field preferred.

Major Responsibilities / Duties / Critical Tasks:

Assists with preparing and submitting program documents including, but not limited to, consent forms, release of information, availability requests.

Inputting patient data (name, date of birth, insurance…) into the EMR.
