What Qualifications you will need:

Strong time management and organizational skills

3+ years of customer-facing or customer service experience

3+ years of troubleshooting or technical support experience

1+ years of experience in a healthcare setting

Excellent listening skills and attention to detail

Experience working with multicultural and virtual teams

Knowledge of computerized practice management systems and other computerized systems (Microsoft office programs and electronic health records systems)

Demonstrates good telephone management skills

Knowledge of computer keyboard and 10 key touch; ability to type at least 40 words per minute

Knowledge of ICD-9 CM and CPT coding systems

Demonstrates good communication skills, bilingual helpful

Must have knowledge of insurance, HMO procedures & medical terminology

Confirms all insurance eligibility and benefits of patient

Maintains detailed knowledge of EMR and other computer software as it relates to job functions

Schedules and coordinates all surgeries, pre-operative testing and appointments for physicians as appropriate

Communicates all necessary information to appropriate physicians, staff and hospital/surgery center.

Obtains necessary prior approval for surgery to be performed

Obtains all necessary surgical release forms as required

Minimum (1) year of experience in a medical office setting highly preferred. (i.e. ambulatory surgery center, hospital, doctors office) preferred.

Education: Successful completion of an approved vocational/technical program for medical secretary or health unit coordinator and (see Experience) OR (see (experience).

Licensure/Certification/Registration: CHUC or CMA certification.

READING - Intermediate: Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

2 years experience in Registration/Scheduling

Basic medical terminology and anatomy knowledge is preferred

Two (2) or more years’ experience preferred

Schedules all surgical procedures adhering to physician Block OR time schedule.

Inputs patient demographics into Patient Accounting to start the registration process.

Communicates with OR Director/Administrator regarding managing block times and refers conflicts and procedural questions to the OR Director.

Allows adequate time for each procedure according to physician request.

Triage incoming urgent scheduling matters (add ons, cancelations, time changes) and dispatch to corresponding management as necessary

Schedules daily and emergent cases, confirmation of all next day cases, which making sure regularly scheduled check-in calls

Develops and maintains relationships with our surgeon and hospital schedulers, customizing case scheduling routines to their needs and wants

Ensures any client issues are addressed to the client's satisfaction and that those issues are documented

Coordinates with after-hours answering service on-call schedule, regional configurations, and dispatch policy

Accurately enters and uploads patient demographics and insurance information into USMON

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent. -2 - 3 years previous healthcare experience preferred -Knowledge of Medical terminology preferred.

Knowledge of keyboard. -Good communication skills. -Good organization skills. -Meets Advocate behavioral expectations.

Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:

Minimum of one (1) year experience as surgery scheduler preferred.

Certifications:• Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (or) obtained within 90 days after hire date.

Language Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

High school graduate or equivalent.
