Handles all contractual services, including operations and administrative functions. The General Manager also provides oversight of the safety and training departments.

Establishes training goals and requirements for all personnel.

Satisfies client, corporate, and contractual reporting requirements and needs.

Proven leadership experience within the transportation industry. Demonstrated ability to build and continuously motivate highly effective teams.

Ensures compliance with all company procedures and policies.

Must have strong transportation and operations management experience, along with professional driving experience; knowledge of DOT regulations is essential.

Directly supervise (15-30) drivers, evaluate the drivers’ performance, observe the drivers in routes + recommended/ coach on more effective time management.

Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to manage internal relationships with various departments.

Manage the hourly workforce and inventory control of operational resources, including trucks, radios and material handling equipment.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are important.

Must be able to manage complex situations quickly and professionally, and exhibit a sense of urgency while focusing on results.

2+ years of hands-on experience and completing the CTEP Rail Transfer course.

Key responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to:

Ensures appropriate MI is in place for optimal management of the driver fleet, consistently meeting customer and reporting requirements.

Solid knowledge of supply chain management

Efficiently manages 3PL providers including, but not limited to, cost effectiveness, control of expenditure, service excellence and purchase order management.

Oversees vehicle management, including liaison with fleet, safe vehicle operations, wheel security, monitors vehicle gross weights.

Minimum of 5 years - proven work experience as a Logistics Manager, Transportation Manager, Shipping Manager, or similar role

Deploys appropriate controls and procedures to manage all aspects of customer service and communication effectively and efficiently.
