The Irion County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications, until position is filled, for a full-time dispatcher.

oApplicant must be at least 18 years old

oMust have a high school diploma or GED

oRequired to talk on radio, telephone, 9-1-1 emergency calls, etc.

oMust be a self-starter and be able to multi-task

Experience juggle multiple responsibilities in a fast paced environment

Knowledge of supervisory and managerial techniques and principles.

Masters degree may substitute for experience up to a maximum of two (2) years.

Experience managing operations in a medical clinic

Experience working with public safety first responders

Experience developing, collecting, analyzing and reporting performance measurement data

2-4 years Experience in direct sales management (Required)

4-7 years Experience managing a team (Required)

2-4 years Experience in the Public Safety industry (Preferred)

Develops sales generation and strategy to support Public Saftey business sales

Works with cross-functional teams to dentify retention opportunities and ensure maintainenance of existing customer base

Supports additional non-selling & administration functions

Oversees emergency management systems and technology

Develops and delivers training to University administrators, faculty, staff and students in the areas of safety, security and emergency management/response

Oversees parking management and enforcement

Directs and participates as needed with investigations, crime prevention, community relations, special events and security functions

Administers the operating budget and makes recommendations for the Department’s facilities, equipment, personnel and operating needs

Collaborates with key campus stakeholders to review Clery Act crime statistics for accuracy prior to publishing Annual Campus Security Report

Must successfully pass a background investigation conducted by Prince George's County, Office of Human Resources Management, Public Safety Investigations Division.

Utilizes life support protocols, as authorized under the Maryland Emergency Medical Dispatch license/certification to provide appropriate instructions to caller;

Qualifications Review and Standards Assessment

Initiates calls for service, utilizing appropriate protocols, provides pre-arrival instructions including CPR instructions, when appropriate;

Makes computer inquiries and be able to interpret the information that is received from the various agencies via the computer;

Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.

Train and manage reporting staff on agency policies and procedures.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Strong planning, organizing, and coordinating skills.

Critical thinking skills, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems

Knowledge of the licensing process within the Division of Occupational Licensure.
